Well I installed the AMV app and did exactly as the guide said so it SHOULD be working.

MPEG2Source("C:\id\watership.d2v")
thats with the movie, (I got the most recent version of AVI synth so acording to the guide I don't need to put in the code to use the plugin.) but it didn't work so I put the plugin code in and the exact same thing happned.

If you are getting an unrecognized exception error then delete the file dvd2avi.ini and make your d2v file again.

problem number 2. The movie is widescreen and was ripped in widesceen. I'm pretty sure it was DVD2AVI that screwed up (again) and changed it to 720x480, how do I make it stay at the correct aspect ratio?

It's porbably supposed to be like that because it's anamorphic.

Read the page in the guide on anamorphic sources for options on what to do - it basically involves resizing and/or cropping but it all depends on if you are using mixed sources or not.

I had to manually add borders to my Aliens footage, and then crop it when exporting in Premiere, because Alien 3 already had the black borders and I didn't know the Avisynth command to get rid of them. My Babylon 5 exports, however, needed no such adding or removal of borders, since I wasn't mixing footage and could therefore just export it as 720x400.

Blah blah blah, I have nothing important to say...
