Chill Nick, Chill. No need to put anyone down, or trash them, just 'cause they dont live up to your standards. I've noticed a massive amount of harshness from you recently, and I just want to know where you are getting all this animosity from. :( :( :(

LOL, sure you are, that's why you think DDR memory is better than RAMBUS, Hellsings have very little bloodshed, VHS has a higher resultion than Beta. You think these thigns and it makes you smart. ROFL...

no, hes right, he's one of the most technically oriented of us and hes only 11, at that age my technical knowledge revolved around n64 being a 64 bit system and thus being better than playstation as a 32 bit system, and I didnt even have any fuckin clue what the difference between 64 and 32 bits were :\

If he were as technicaly oriented as you say then he would at least get his facts strait. And I am not only talking aobut thechnical stuff, his little hellsing barely had any bloodshed remark nearly made me cry it was so funny. And the betamax thing :my mom recorded a show and it l;oked bad and that means VHS is better than beta bla bla bla" if he at least researched his answers he woudl know that BETA has almost twice the resolution VHS does. And the DDR stuff, he thinks he knows what he's talking about and actually doesn't, which is my opinion, is worse than not knowing at all.

Well lets put it this way, PC chip developers don't bather dealing with that stuff either. the Best PC chips are still 32 bit processors. Hopefully AMD's new chip the sledgehammer is going to hold true to the stuff I've heard and be the first PC with a 64 bit CPU.

I have heard many different things, some calling it 'clawhammer' others calling it 'sledgehammer' and some just calling it the new CPU AMD is working on.(ulike some people.)

Wait, so since I'm tutoring him through the dank, twisty, smelly corridors of the Linux kernel and UNIX-land, does that make me some sort of dot-org-intellectual-god?

The Claw is the home based, meant mainly for single and light dual processor based architecture, and the Sledge is the server based, meant primarily for 4, 8, or 16+ processors systems. I've been waiting for the Hammer's since last summer, but it still up in the air, whether or not, 64 bit archetecture for OS's and the like will be its downfall, or its savior.

Official Names are Athlon 64(home) and Opteron(server).

Actually, I believe MS already demoed a 64bit version of XP :\ or longhorn on a either a claw or sledge :\ not sure which. MS I believe likes x86-64 way much more over intels Merced(Itanium)'s IA64 instruction set.

Also the claw is going to be able to run 32bit code just as fast or faster then a Athlon XP :). Which is good news.

I think the true test is weather there is software out there that is going to take advantage of 64bits. Giving people a reason to upgrade.

I heard about the 32bit backward compatabiltiy. But then again, I 'hard' but at this point news articles aren't reliable in my opinion, the only way to know for sure is when it is released.
