Adobe Premier 6.0 / iMovie

Postby gogetaz9 » Wed Feb 12, 2003 10:12 am

I'm think, I might purchase a Apple Power Book G4. However I think i might stay with my PC, OK the PC has been giving me some hassle lately while using Adobe Premier 6.0. I was wondering is iMovie from Apple as good as Premier or better ?

Anyone??

They do make Premiere for Mac. I don't know if you'd have to buy it all over again, if there's any kind of trade available, or if there's any kind of upgrade disc, but it is available.

If your purchasing a powerbook and you fail to get the adobe package your just injuring yourself. From the sounds of it I would say do WAY more research before making and purchasing decisions. Yes a powerbook would be best, but besure it's what you really want! Because for a good one you looking around 5k. Opting for any less would be foolhearty.

Just so you know iMovie, I've heard, cannot hold a candle to Premiere.

If you are interested in making AMVs on the Mac then you can check out Red Wolf's AMV guide for Macs:

You can get a Powerbook that'll handle video editing for around 2k, and the best editing software you can get on an Apple is Final Cut Pro which, incidentally, kicks Premiere's ass. But Klinky is absolutely right - iMovie sucks shit. It's for happy little families who want to make happy little home movies. And Red Wolf's guide is quite good - I'll second giving it a read. If you're looking for portability though, the Powerbook is the best portable cutting station you can find. If you go for desktop, however... your options become a lot greater.

Sure if you opt for the crappy 12" screen and neglect HDD space, Memory, AirPort, superdrive and everything else that makes Mac, Mac. Not to mention software and peripherals. Realisitcly if you plan on doing anything at all with your mac it is best to get all the above, plus.
