But what's making me matters is converting the avs files into MJPEGs. Today, when I got up (real late  ) I started the PC, and let VirtualDub convert 3 DVDs when I'm at work. But the estimated time was about 4 hours per DVD, so horrible 12 hours! That mean, the conversion won't even be finished when I come home :|
So, is it normal to take so long for encoding? I thought that the MJPEG codec is really fast...
I just do "Fast Recompress" with the Morgan Mulitmedia MJPEG set at around 1 quality. Well, I've never done it, but that's what I'm going to do. Anyways, choose "Fast Recompress" and not "Full Processing Mode". That should make the compression time less, and use 1- quality on the MM MJPEG or the PicVideo version. It should decrease the filesize (Even at 720x480 res) and it will speed up the conversion process.

MJPEG is fast, it's the AVS frame server + decoding mpeg2 that's slow.

I did Fast Recompress... but at quality 5, but I'll try 1 the next time...

I have a 1.4Ghz AthlonXP w/ 1280MB of PC133 SDRAM.

If I do AVS > MJPEG with fast recompress and NO filters, I get about 30fps.

If I do something like add IVTC,crop & resize filters it drops betwen 6 - 10fps
