What kind of song/music should I use?
The AMV that I wanted to make is off of the anime/movie 5 centimeters per second. It's a sad movie so I guess it rules out heavy metal, but at the same time, I found a song I wanted to use for it. The funny thing is, it's already been made with that song and the EXACT part of the song I wanted to use as well lol! So my question to everyone is what song I should use.
Here's a link of the video that stole my idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr4onp4kbz4

Saying steal is wrong, since I doubt he actually stole the idea from you to begin with. But honestly, if you want to make an amv with the same anime/song combo, you're free to do it regardless if other vids have been made.

Well it's not like I truly meant he "stole" it. It's just a more comedic way of me saying that my idea has been used already.
And making something that I already know exists just feels like I'm copying it or trying to prove mine would be better.
I like things to be fresh.

Well, if you like fresh things, then I doubt you'll have an easy way making something fresh with 5cm/sec, since that movie is terribly overused.
I think that if you want something original, then you'll have to try some weird song and make the combo very uncommon... try looking into Hifana, perhaps.

Who? lol.
Just youtube'd them and I have to say that they're sick (in a good way). It'd be one interesting AMV if I used them
Thanks for the suggestion!

I can see why you deleted my post, but xexyzl was just pointing out that it is very well possible to make a sad video to heavy metal music and even posted an example.

Take it easy kev.
(it wasn't even me, I'm surprised the post was removed. It was probably a bit hard to detect the 5-character link in that. Here is the original post:)

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Oh hey thats my AMV
Honestly if you want to use the same part of the same song with the same anime, go ahead lol. But since you want to do something different I'd stick to Mirkosp's suggestion.

When you put it that way, I guess I kinda have to make something new.
But going back to the main point of the topic, I still kinda need a song or something.
I guess like xexyzl pointed out, heavy metal can actually work. But if I use something heavy metal-like I wanna use something where the singer kinda does a classical style of singing. Sort of like that video he sent a link to. Or maybe something similar to "I am Ghost" style of music.

Any source will work with any song if you want it to.
Really any kind of music or song is as equally valid as any other kind.
Your best bet is to do something that you like and want to do.
(Or as a favour to me...use merzbow)
