all the lyrics are about girls and stuff, and summer. You may think well yeah there's tons of animes with girls and stuff, like Tenchi. But all the songs are based on present or past relationships. It's be kinda hard for tenchi to want ryoko back if they've never been....

It's this way with every song, the lyrics just don't fit.

You haven't listened to much Punk Rock have you?

Note:Most Modern day "Punk" should be considered Emo

I would probably say either folk music or showtunes. It's hard to make a video that people take seriously if you use either of these genres. Frequently they contain too much of their own story or character to bend the anime to, which can make it difficult to edit them easily...although I'm still trying my hardest to do so!

I think you need to listen to REAL PUNK ROCK (stuff from the 80s and early 90s), because all of the punk rock now is not. It's EMO.

EMO, NOT PUNK ROCK, EMO.

I think that any genre can be used to make an AMV, no question. The question comes in with what concept you're trying to do with the particular AMV you're making/want to make.

Also, there's going to be certain songs within every style of music that just won't bend themselves to an AMV, it's just the way it is.
Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.

We already had this argument and such. Please read this whole thread if you're planning on debating what punk is, what it isn't, and whether or not it's still alive, etc. If you don't agree with the opinions expressed in that thread, then I think Jace will agree with me when I tell you of my 3-Step Program:

1. Cry me a river
2. Build me a bridge
3. Get over it

Yeah dude.

The Final Verdit was Punk is one genre, a main and general genre. Then sub genres of punk branched off. And Punk Rock is one of those sub genres. two of my fav. bands are The Used and Finch. You go listen to them and tell me they're emo.

And pertaining to my original post here, MOST are about girls. How ever the Used are pretty much uselss cuz how is a song about throwing up going to help?

if you reall do care, AT ALL, you can go read the thread Rozard posted. And because of that thread it's ana rgument I don't wanna get into again. I've stated all I'm going to state on the matter above^

And yes Rozard, I agree, yet may their bridges have bad foundations and fall apart on them...

Oh yeah, you can get any genre to work with an AMV. But I think Godwin was asking just about Anime.

Actually, those work quite well in Cardcaptor Sakura. Doesn't EVA have lots of classical music too?

I wouldn't know about cardcaptor sakura, since I havent seen it, but as with any instumental music you can't do what is easily done with a song THAT HAS LYRICS. Namely lyric synching, or at least a title that has a similarity to the a subject in the anime. With insturmental videos you can't go and match up a sentance with something that is happening in the video because there is no sentance. It all has to ba carfully planned synching and selection of the video and music.
