Postby D.J.C-Kills » Thu Sep 04, 2008 5:40 pm

Anybody here a fan of of experimental/avant-garde or just plain bizzare music that's for free. If so then I implore you to check out this online label-site COMFORT STAND RECORDING:

http://www.comfortstand.com/

For those of you curious about the site read the "about us" section that I have a link for right here:

http://www.comfortstand.com/about/index.html

Comfort stand was founded by Otis Fodder, a Canadian recording artist and musician, back in the early 2000's and artists from around the world have contributed to the site.

Unfortunately the label has officially been shut down. but you can still keep track of many artists as well as other online-label companies too.

I also forgot to mention a few personal favorite artists of mine from here on the CSR:

1. The Apartment
2. Beef Humper
3. Bleep
4. The Bran Flakes
5. Cell1110
6. Forty One
7. Full Load of King
8. Otis Fodder (the genius/madman behind the site)
9. Lullabelle
10. Okapi
11. Sciflyer
12. Twizzle
13. Wierdomusic
14 Nova Social

...and may other artists from comfort stand, just check it out for yourself if you like it then you like it if you don't then you don't. I'd like to find other members here at a-m-v.org with similar tastes or at least open-minds that all.

Keep in mind though that I haven't explored the entire site yet, but I'll be glad to answer any questions just don't expect me to have all the answers though.

Kevmaster, the reason why you haven't heard of these band is because they are mostly independent, home-recording amateur musicians that were just starting out that is back when the site was open (you can still go to the website and listen to the music and download many of the tracks it's just that they no longer put any new material up they just abandoned it)

If you like you can check out the link I gave in the first post it'll take you directly to Comfort Stand there you can check out the artists I mentioned and see if you like them. I know your into metal and rock though, and most of these musicians are composing experimental strange music, but there are still tons of artists that I haven't even heard yet so you might find something you like and you know what else is cool you can download all the music for free.

Get back to me once you checked this site out.

It's been my experience that underground, independent, or little-known groups / musicians produce some of the best music ;) It's good when you don't have to answer to large record lables, or a huge fan base, and you can just make music purely for the sake of making music....

cept for the fact that most of the time the quality is shit because they are recording in basements and trash cans, but the quality doesn't really get in the way of the music.
