Ugh. I just typed this up, then IE crashed on me. HERE WE GO AGAIN...
So it's "Spankin' New Bands" week on MTV/MTV2. When I first heard they were gonna be doing this (about a month ago), I figured it was just going to be another example of them cashing in by exploiting crappy "new" bands that pretend they're new-school punk. Well, I was half right. They've got the Donnas and Good Charlotte, sure, but then there's the other three: The Used, Simple Plan, and New Found Glory.
The Used performed "The Taste of Ink" today on TRL, which was decent, and then they did a five-song, half-hour set over on MTV2 right after.
MTV was NOT ready for "Maybe Memories" and/or "Say Days Ago," but they DAMN well got what they asked for. It was f*^$ing insane.
It's repeating tonight at 9 pm on MTV2, so definitely check it out.
Tomorrow Simple Plan's playing. HUZZAH. I'm sure they'll do "I'd Do Anything" on TRL, and play that and "I'm Just a Kid," which Meri and I used in our video "Alone in the World" (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=11329) with some other stuff on MTV2. You owe it to yourself to check it out. And hey, if you like their stuff, download our video :P.
NFG's on Thursday. As many times as I've seen them, and as long as it's been with them, it's still trippy to me to see them on TV.
Good Charlotte's on Friday. They can take a long walk off a short pier, but that's another story entirely.
The amount of MTV-related watching I'll be doing this week is at least double the amount I've done over the last five years, total.
