Matt Barlow back in Iced Earth. Thoughts?

Postby Iced Earth Fan » Sun May 18, 2008 9:21 pm

Personally, I love the fact that Barlow is back in the band. He and Schaffer made I.E. into what they are today. However, I am also a little sad that "The Ripper's" no longer in the band, he was a great singer and brought something new to their music. I'd like to know what fellow fan's think about Jon's choice to bring him back:)

Word. It's awesome that he is back in the band but I can only hope they will continue producing music of as much quality as they used to now - I have my worries, as times have changed. I'd love to hear whatever Iced Earth does with Matt nonetheless. The combination itself is just epic.

About Ripper.. He wasn't bad, but he was nowhere NEAR Matt, that's a given. Then again, it isn't easy to find a singer as good as him in general - he's just too damn awesome. :o

Oh how convenient. A theory about God that doesn't require looking through a telescope.

I am pissed that I missed Barlow's return show with the band...

Ripper wasn't bad, but he couldn't do a live show to save his life...

After seeing the Iced Earth return show, all I can say is, "thank God." I'm tired of hearing that Barlow has no range. He was easily hitting notes that Owens did regularly, but could also get much lower. And his presence is undeniable. Definitely a great performer. I just hope they get around to touring eventually.
