Which version do you guys like better?? The Rolling Stones Version or the Guns and Roses Version. Personally, I like the Guns and Roses Version better?

What do you guys think??

Laibach put out an album with eight different versions. The "Who Killed the Kennedys?" version is one of my all-time fave songs.

The Stone's original is classic, never heard the Gun and Roses version.

This is a question not even worth asking. Score one for the Stones.

I choose the Rolling Stones. I agree with Chef's assessment of G n' R's cover songs. They can't seem to improve on the originals, but maybe that's because they seem to have picked a bunch of classic songs to cover.

I would say that they should pick some more obscure stuff to cover, or at least try to put a new spin on them, but with the way things are going now, I really don't see this band having any future.

A couple notes that I forgot to include earlier re: covers...

There *IS* one cover that I like of Sympathy for the Devil: Weird Al's polka version =P

As far as bands that do good covers, my nod goes to REM for doing some of the most incredible covers I've ever heard. They always manage to make the song sound their own, and Stipe's got the vocal range to handle it well. Sadly the only way to find most of the post-Live's Rich Pageant era covers is to get concert bootlegs - good thing the band has openly admitted not caring if people tape. My faves are Dark Globe, The After-Hours, Academy Fight Song, Hello in There, and Love is All Around (sung by Mike Mills).
