Hunt for the perfect song

Postby Inaaca » Tue Apr 10, 2007 12:32 pm

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a song that centers around the concept of exploration, or a journey, or pioneering.. Something that just screams going out there and breaking new boundaries, reaching for goals, going out on a limb, against the grain, etc. It doesn't have to match ALL of these things, I'm just trying to convey a mood/theme. Bonus points if it even ties to space exploration, depending on how it's used.

I'd like something very upbeat, that'll pump you up, to fit with an action/adventure theme. It can have some slower sections, but most of it should be pretty upbeat.

I've been leafing through songs for a while, so I started wondering if anyone else had some suggestions. Thank you in advance for anyone that helps. :)

If you're up for instrumental, I think Liquid Tension Experiment would be nice to work with.

"Set Your Controls" by Star One fits the bill perfectly. If I think of some more, I'll let you know.

I'm having a bit of trouble finding decent samples of Vanishing Point and "Set Your Controls", but from what I'm found they seem to have potential.

I think I can safely say that Viking Metal isn't really my kind of music, the vocals just don't do it for me. Amon Amarth, Battlelore, and Blind Guardian are just simply too dark in nature. Also, "Exploration of Space" just doesn't feel interesting to me.

"The Adventure" is a decent song though, and Liquid Tension Experiment has some catchy stuff.

I almost didn't look up Dragonforce, but I'm glad I did, because some of my favorite stuff so far I found by them. I think my favorite find so far out of these suggestions is "Evening Star" by Dragonforce. It's just the kind of thing I'm looking for.

I haven't finalized a decision yet, but I'm liking that song at the moment. Thank you everyone for your suggestions thus far! :D

Alright, so Flint the Dwarf graciously helped me with getting a taste of "Set Your Controls" along with some other suggestions he came up with. "Set Your Controls" has become another great candidate, so now I'm trying to decide between that and "Evening Star". I'll have to let it sit in my head a little.

If anyone still has any suggestions though, it's never too late to try it on me. :o

I literally couldn't control my laughter for about three seconds. It's rare for it to be involuntary to that extent.

No seriously, calling Blind Guardian "Viking metal" is hilarious, and also, calling them too dark is ALSO hilarious, as most of Blind Guardian's songs fall in gray areas, and many of them are upbeat.

Straight Through The Mirror, Turn The Page, Fly (you won't find the right one on filesharing networks), The Maiden and The Minstrel Knight, The New Order, Otherland, The Soulforged, Battlefield, Mirror Mirror, The Curse of Feanor, Time Stands Still (At The Iron Hill), Imaginations From The Other Side, I'm Alive, A Past and Future Secret, Theatre of Pain, The Bard's Song (In The Forest), Somewhere Far Beyond, Traveler In Time, Lost In The Twilight Hall, The Last Candle. Go Listen to those.

Also, The Odyssey by Symphony X.

Blind Guardian >>>>>>>> Dragonforce.

Bruce Dickinson - Navigate the Seas of the Sun

A more beautiful song about exploration I haven't heard.
