GOOD CHristmas Songs.

Postby Double O Ninety » Sun Dec 15, 2002 2:52 am

Hey all! Here's the dealio: Every year, my family plays stupid, bad, horrible, Christmas compilation cds that have maybe one decent song on them and then the rest makes you want to kill small animals. I need cool Christmas songs. Anything newer, can be older if it's a little jazzy, or good in some way. Anyway, i want to build a new Christmas cd and make up a lie that all of the others were lost in an earthquake or something. Okay. So list your good Christmas songs.

No. 1) Does it have words?

I am not looking for boring stuff, not saying anything about you weather man, but in general, I want some punky some jazzy and even some rap would be okay... Different is what I need. No doubt did a nice christmas song once...

It's celtic/world instrumental. I'm so old and my hearing ain't what it used to be so I can't understand it when music has words anymore.

Sorry, bud, I'm not looking for Celtic... I have heard enough from Irish and Welsch peopel for awhile. I need punky. No Doubt, Aerosmith... Also, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is a good song... If you can go by that...

"Carol Of The Bells" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra is cool. It's a rock orhestral instrumental song, but <a href="http://er.neoxer.com/carol.html">here are some lyrics</a>.

"Last Christmas" by DJ Epic is some spiffy Xmas techno pop.

I'm sure there's more.

Well, I wouldn't call Aerosmith "punky," but whatever, we're not going to get into that again. Right Jace? As for No Doubt, check out "Oi To The World."

Personally, I'll play my dad's Johnny Mathis record any time of the year :D Also, I really like my Chicago Christmas album I got two years ago.

I had oi to the world on one of those cds that were lost in the tragic earth quake... ANYhoo, I was thinking of when Steve Tyler sang santa clause is coming to town on Lizzie Maguire.

ALSO, I really liked the Squirrel Nut Zippers' Christmas Album if that helps narrow any suggestions...

Some more:

"<a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/ramones/merrychristmasidontwanttofighttonight.html">Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)</a> by the Ramones is a good punk rock styled song.

If you want a 60s/70s style funk groove, try The Temptations cover of "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer".

"The Mistletoe and Me" by Isaac Hayes is some nice Hot Buttered Soul. Not sure about lyrics, but seems harmless enough.

"Deck The Halls" by Mannheim Steamroller is nifty, too. Another instrumental.

It's hybrid between DBZ and Outlaw Star Music! I like it. Very nice. It's too bad all of those poor, defenseless, boring cds were lost in that tragic, fatal, eartyh-moving earthquake!
