The thing that really annoys me is all these poppy, radio-friendly songs with that cheesy, studio gloss-over feel to them. You can tell there was no particular vision behind this kind of stuff, it's just calculated melodies drenched in sugary sweetness that's so obviously manipulative you feel like vomiting.

The reason that nirvana was so popular , and translates as a hit today , is because kurt cobain had such a unique voice that wasnt perfect. And in a world of perfect melodies and everyone sounding like pearl jam (or creed, if you only 14) its nice to hear something that isnt perfect.
flawed, but yet .. it works .

That's what I can't stand with all these pop songs. They are just made to entertain the masses / make the most money out of it.

It was like that in the 80s, too, but back then you actually had to be able to play your instruments, write your own lyrics, and create your own style most of the time. Nowadays, you have like 20 people for one lousy fucking vocalist (who may not be able to sing on their own), doing all that.
