AMVs = New Music

Postby Dark_Falz » Fri Jun 16, 2006 2:31 am

What is everyones opinion on ripping music off of AMVs? I, for one, do NOT think this is wrong. I feel this way because, come on, it's not any worse than downloading an AMV, now is it? Besides, most of the music is awsome!

This is probaly one of the reasons that band managers want their music taken off the site.

I suppose that's PART of the problem, but I suppose mostly it's the fact that the music is being used at all. But, yeah, you have a point.

Yes, stealing music is awesome! :roll:

Seriously, whatever. I think we all know what the law says about it.

Personally, I think it's a pretty retarded way of getting music. If you're gonna download, at least do it efficiently - why waste tens of megs for one song in a Lame (no pun intended!) MP3?

I've bought many an album based on either music used in AMVs, or recommendations from other editors.

Even if you decided to take the time to rip the song, the sound quality wouldn't even be that good. So what would be the point in bothering? Just buy the CD or the song off something like iTunes.

I never have any money! No one ever pays me for ANYTHING I do and any time I want a CD, no place ever has it anyway! Also, I don't download AMVs for the music, I do it so I can watch them. Also, the sound quality is actually pretty good. As for it being stealing... isn't using it in the AMV and letting people download it stealing also?

If you *really* can't find a CD when you want to buy it, there's this magical, mystical place called the Internet. I'm sure you've heard of it, but there are these things called "websites" that allow you to electronically transfer money in return for goods and services, including CDs.

Keep in mind that most editors purchase CDs to rip the music they use in their videos, thus supporting the artists to some degree. If you like the artists you listen to, you should support them too.

I really don't see a point in ripping off music from hard working people. Just imagine taking away part of your paycheck. I know that it would hurt me! As for this site, I've bought 3 anime full-seasons (NGE,Chobits,ChronoCrusade) and 7 CD's just from seeing this site, so I think it is not only a beautiful site for AMV, but also a killer advertisement site.

Ditto. One reason I believe the anime industry puts up with us is because of the publicity that gets generated from the videos. I've several times said "Hey, that looks awesome!" and bought an anime after seeing a clip of it.
