Of course it depends on the specific examples. But I shake my fist at anyone who says something about Yoko Kanno not being seriously good music
I love Yoko Kanno's music. same for Yuki Kajiura, Yoko Shimomomura, Nobuo Uematsu etc... They all have excellent music and just because it's anime/game music doesn't mean it's not music. I mean seriously, it's kinda hard for someone just to pull that off the top of your head. I'd like to see Dark_Falz's father do that.

Most of the time, the music from games I've played is a THOUSAND times better than anything people like Britney Spears or any else for that matter can come up with. I'd like to see her sing "One Winged Angel". Some of my facorite music has always been instrumental, so I also enjoy music from the Legend of Zelda. Here's hoping the music in Twilight Princess can somehow pull a miracle out of it's ass and out-do the music from Final Fantasy! (I'm not knocking Final Fantasy, by the way, I just LOVE the Zelda games!)

What he said(or she, i dont know).

I think the very reason i listen to anime/game music is because of whats made over here, but dont get me wrong, i do listen to some songs from here, but thats mostly because i heard it from an AMV i picked up.

And i know that exact feeling of bein questioned, im sitting there listening to something in Japanese like FMA or Cowboy Bebop, and my mom is like "Your weird" or my dad is like "you understand that?", and im simply like "No", but it sounds good, which is all that matters.

Well I can see why the thread starter's dad thinks video game music isn't music....not to imply he's old or anything but video game music has come a long way from the stupid polyphonic beeping sounds it called music.
What I can't understand though is parents or other such people bashing anime music because chanses are they've never seen anime so they can't judge the music.
Yoko Kanno Rulz. End of Story.

exactly WHAT does seeing a show have to do with listening to the music?

Please think before you present an idea.
