Which record? I'd recommend V, but Divine Wings of Tragedy and The Odyssey are kind of uneven, and I haven't heard any of their earlier stuff. I'm not too crazy about their singer's AOR moments, or their occasional keyboard-overdoses, but Michael Romeo's guitar tone is the stuff.

If you like Evergrey and/or Dream Theater, you will probably like Symphony X as well, though maybe with some reservations.

Ehh... I really would recommend V - The New Mythology Suite. Divine Wings has some great moments on it, and the title track is awesome even if it is heavy on guitar/keyboard duels, but I think V is a better album comprehensively. In general, The Odyssey is the heaviest, Divine Wings is second, Twilight in Olympus is third, and V is fourth. Those last two are really about even. They're all great, but I think V showcases their talent the best. But whatever you buy, out of those four, you'll get a good taste.

I don't recommend either of their first two, but especially not the debut. The singer was horrible.

I dunno if we're still on topic or not *pokes last posts* but I really like Linkin Park. There's so many others I listen to, but LP is definitely my fave.

Best rock of all time

The best rock bands out there that aren't so similar to other bands that you can't tell them apart are Linkinpark, Thousand foot krutch, and Nickelback

ufff... metal, metal... well, when it comes to metal, i enjoy bands such as In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Stone sour, Spineshank, Rammstein, Deathstars, System of a Down, Adema, Apocalyptica, Mudvayne, Static-X and last, but not liest Pain. And some other bands, which I don't listen so often, along with few of my favourite non-metal artists 8-)

2 things:

1) There isn't anyone in slipknot called "mike", his name is mick.

2) It isn't Mick it's Jim Root, personally i think Jim's better than Mick anyway.
