In the rock direction, from King Crimson, "Larks' Tongues in Aspic Part 2" was a good suggestion to look at. In a similar vein, "Red", "VROOOM", "VROOOM VROOOM" would do good, too. Nicely structured, still essentially odd.
There's a lot of structured KC material that's weirder and more interesting than that, and I'd love to see in an AMV, but it's honestly very difficult to approach. Try "Level Five" and see if you can come up with a good way to AMV it without going crazy. It's very complex technically, and also a bit on the long side (and hard to crop). In a similar vein, many of the most interesting King Crimson pieces are very unapproachable ("Larks Tongues in Aspic Part I/III/IV", "Fracture", "ConstruKction of Light").
Then we come to "unstructured", and I wouldn't know where to begin. I'd suggest looking at the ProjeKcts music (ProjeKct 1 through ProjeKct 5, and ProjeKct X), which is where "The Wasteland" track came from - though generally, what you'd find is very strange, athmospheric, improvised music. The problem with giving concrete suggestions on it is, among other things, that many of their tracks don't have proper titles
Anyway, tell us what type of AMV you're looking at. There's many different things people can do with instrumentals, and not all at the same time!
