A. These people obviously cant appreciate good music.

STOP PISSING ON LP!! This band happens to be the band that went Quadruple Platinum last yr, is NOT manufactured, is NOT a boy band, IS one of the best bands on the planet. Their music is versatile for music videos because of the themes in their songs. As i sit here writing this i am wearing one of my Linkin Park shirts, so its not a very large mental effort to figure what my fave band is. If u dont like their music dont listen to it, but dont attack or abuse or complain when someone uses one of their songs for an AMV. They probably wouldnt do it to you, so have a little bit of consideration, maybe something with the words "MUTUAL RESPECT" in it.

This, of course, only applies if you happen to be a fan of rap/rock, which I really don't. LP's first album wasn't that bad, but I lost my last scrap of respect for them as musicians when they put out their Reanimation CD. I don't care who you are, putting out a remix album as only your second one is ridiculous. It's an obvious attempt to milk more money out of their fans, and nothing more.I also detest the one guy... I think his name's Chester... I hate his singing. When he's singing low, slow stuff, he's pretty good, but when he tries to sing high and fast, he ends up sounding like an angsty teenager.

Oh, and BTW (stupid no edit button thing) calling LP one of the best bands around is a LLLOOONNNGGG stretch. They haven't been around long enough to even come close to establishing themselves in that way.

ErMaC didn't mean to do that. He didn't know SA's direct linking...'policy'...
dbzfan33, however, intentionally posted that pic of the topless chick. While it was very fine indeed *Yum* it was inappropriate for this board.

You're entitled to your opinion; I'm entitled to mine. I don't like Linkin Park. Granted, I've only heard several of their songs (the most popular ones), and found them to be typical pseudo-angsty millennial pop. Following that, I've found that many people who do like them are typical pseudo-angsty millennial jerks, and I'm not the one to judge whether or not this is coincidence. I won't say that it's impossible to make a good AMV for a Linkin Park song. I won't even say that it's impossible to make a good AMV for a Linkin Park song using Dragonball Z footage (although Meri's "Traces of Insanity" is the only one I've ever seen). I will, however, say that good AMVs set to Linkin Park are few and far between, and seeing the name appear implies to me that I'm in for a rough ride. I have rarely been wrong about this.

I don't like rap, and besides, most anything mainstream is flawed in some way. The last mainstream anything that I liked was when the music vid to freak on a leash went all the way to the top on TRL.

I have never heard a Linkin Park song that lent itself to a positive mood.

Maybe not "lent itself", but "Cure For The Itch" can be transposed into any number of moods from warm to depressive depending on how the creator reacts to the music. Unfortunately, the nature of this particular piece makes it by far the most underused of Linkin Park's works to date.

Also, don't underestimate the potential for comic irony inherent in these songs. Much of _Hybrid Theory_ is already teetering on the edge of self-parody, and a careful hand, with the right video, can push it completely over. There are already several videos out there that intentionally combine Linkin Park and DBZ to poor effect, with the intent of combining to such poor or stereotypical effect that it's [meant to be, at least] funny.

By the way, anyone who considers this fivesome great at anything but persuading suburban teenyboppers to buy their music needs their heads checked. They're merely decent as a band, borderline competent on their instruments (even Hahn falls well short of the top echelon of DJs), and lacking any sort of original contribution to musical culture. When you put _Hybrid Theory_ next to _Revolver_, _Never Mind the Bollocks..._, _Reign In Blood_, _Smells Like Teen Spirit_, or any other definitive and transformative album you can choose, the difference is clear, immediate, and decidedly not in LP's favor.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

Amen. That's exactly what I say. I don't hate their music (at least their Hybrid Theory and earlier stuff), I actually like it, and listen to it occasionally. But they are far from an influencial or revolutionary band. And, on the same topic, saying they're good because they went multi-platinum doesn't mean anything. Boy bands regularly sell a ton of albums, and they aren't even what I would consider music. Popularity does not equal talent.

Damn, man, that's a pretty huge blanket statement you've got there.

I'll be over here listening to my "crap" REM, NIN and the occasional Massive Attack (ALL very, very mainstream, thank you very much) and rock back and forth crying.

Oh wait, or is that "chuckle at yet another kneejerk, blanket accusation that takes popularity into account above quality and therefore ironically buys right into the thing they pretend to oppose"? I keep getting confused. ;)

those were some good points Chaos Angel, and i wasnt tryin to b rude, it just burns me that people think overuse equals bad quality. I mean, the question has to b asked, if LP are so unlikable in relation to AMV's, why does everyone (generalisation) use them? Apologies to anyone who thought i was bein rude. I was just venting.

Overuse doesn't mean bad quality necessarily. I mean people complain about the tons of DBZ videos out there, but there are a few diamonds in the rough.

It has hit the point that if you are planning to make a linkin park video though, chances are, that video might have been made 10 times over. Look, I'll be brutally honest, I can't stand Linkin Park. I think their music is a bunch of unoriginal contrived bullshit. But hey, that's just my thoughts on them. :D If you dig them though, and you think you can make a good and original video with a song by them, then go for it. Don't let anyone's opinions stop you from at least trying.
