what language is this?

Post by macedon » Tue Sep 20, 2005 5:28 pm

I have a fun techno mp3, but I don't recognize what language it is in.

My hypothesis is that it is Farsi (sounds kinda Indo-European).

Any linguistics gurus or native speakers here that could clue me in?

Personally, I rule out any European languages from what I hear right now.

I suspect it to be Hebrew, but it might be something else. Certainly a middle-eastern language of some sort.

It does remind me of Farsi, but there's a weird repeating sound in there that I don't remember hearing in any Farsi before though, kind of like a fj sound in Norwegian. OF course, all the Farsi I've ever heard sung was more traditional sounding songs, not techno. The gutterals in there scream Middle Eastern. Maybe...Egyptian?

It sounds Indian to me...Hindi, Urdu, possibly Bengali. There's an off chance it could be Hebrew or even Hungarian, but I kind of doubt it.
