I actually mostly agree with this statement. You shouldn't have withdrawn it. A partial understanding is enough with me, as long as the folks can feel the tone and message of the song and get a mutual vibe from it.

Dont eat with a sliver knife and fork on fine china? forget about clasical/operatic amv's. Are you an oraku? I thought not. Stop making amv's alltogeather NOW.

You totally took that statement wrong. You mistook hip-hop for rap. There's a big difference between the two.

To make it simple
Rap = the action, a music style, a music format and medium that consists of an emcee and a dj.

Hip-hop = the lifestyle, the culture. And I don't mean the hard gangsta, street roamin', hustlin', pimpin lifestyle that's be overblown and overhyped by the media.

Hip-hop is expressed by the way one talks, the walks, the dancing and break dancing, the graffiti art, and the style of music which includes rap as a main element along with DJing and turntablelism.

Hip-hop is not just exclusive to black folks and is perhaps the most diverse in ethnicity over any other contemporary culture as well. The most famous modern turntablists and DJs in the world today are of Latin, Asian, and Caucasian ethnicity. Of course the original old school DJ forefathers deserve much credit as well. Breakers out there are of various ethnicities as well.

This whole beef that he has with Jadakiss and Fat Joe, and the whole situation with The Game is just stupid. I heard that 50 is a nice guy to be around, but sometimes he can be a knucklehead. Other than that his music is great.

50 does a good job in the studio, but seeing him perform live is another thing. I didn't get so much energy from him when he came to my town. But then again Xzibit was featured in his concert and to me, 50 couldn't hold a candle to X's performance. After X did all his 5 tracks, there wasn't anybody who could top him the rest of that night.

I didn't look at the date. I assumed it was new because it was at the top of the page

I have to agree with bum on this one. I withdrew that statement because people were taking the wrong way.

I should have said that in my original statement.

Then that would go for any genre: if you don't "get" the music, you have no business using it. That would be the ideal approach for people in their music videos, but it's not going to happen and I'm not going to get upset over it.

Pretty much, yeah, it may apply to any other genre. I mean, one does not have to completely immerse him/herself into the culture just to have an understanding. Just don't use the music and the artform as some commodity, as well as seeing the music as some novelty that's hip and trendy just because it's unique from that person's normal lifestyle.

i think i prefer the old school hip hop songs better than todays just because most of the songs actually rapped about something. Im not saying that today's rap artists dont rap about important things, its just that u c less of them.

Someone needs to use the Streets for an AMV.

British hip-hop with tongue in cheek, dry humour.

I recommend Geezers Need Excitement.
