When I'm in a mood for mellow music, I usually like to pop in Sarah Brightman, Dido, Natalie Imbruglia, etc.

Although I've never heard anything by the bands you named, so whether these are anything alike, I have no clue.

i listened to this incredibly goofy song. it was like, "beeby booby life is great GREAT GREAT FUCKING GREAT!"

i wouldnt call it mellow exactly, but it is a feel good song of sorts. so it sorta falls into the same category...sort of..shut up

its:
jambo tropicana by dj mangoo

oh its goofiness is breathtaking. BE PREPARED TO CRY BECAUSE THE POP VIBES WILL MELT YOUR FREAKIN EARS

and there is something about the beginning to "the patient" by tool that is just relaxing. try that out as well

You should really check them out. Escpecially Sublime. Its my fav. Band in the world.

Yau have probably already heard a song of theirs called "What i got" and not known it

*sings* lovin is what i got. I said remember that, lovin is what i got, i got, i.... got

Many people have heard it and not known who plays it. Until i force them to listen to Them that is :P

and thanks for the suggestions Chaos and Temjin.

i have 2 mellow out songs, but one doesnt really count.

war, lowrider (you know, the cheech and chong:up in smoke intro song?)

cream, white room
i know that second one isnt mellow in any sense of the word but it calms me down. that and babe im gonna leave you by led zeppelin, pretty soft until the drums kick in...black mountain side is good to for being calm.

Morcheeba - The Sea, Part of the Process, Blindfold, Let Me See, damn near anything on Big Calm
Tricky - Hell Is Round the Corner
Massive Attack - Teardrop
Most of Pink Floyd

There's stuff I personally like, but that up there is pretty eh, mainstream I guess.

"Low...Ri...Der...Knows every street, yeah......Low...Ri...Der...Is the one to meet, yeah..."
*Cheesy trumpet lick*

That song rocks

Chaos: I've probably heard 311 before, but didn't know it. They did the songs "Down" and "All Mixed Up," both of which were quite popular in the mid-90s. As for a list of mellow songs by them, I'd say:

1,2,3
8:16 AM
Amber
Cali Soca
Champagne
Color
I'll Be Here Awhile
Lose
My Stoney Baby
Nix Hex
Prisoner
Running

Well, that's about it for me ^_^

A song I've come to like recently that's pretty mellow:

'2000 Years of Human Error' by Godhead
Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.
And lighten up.

This is probably the third time I've mentioned the band here, but what the hell. Travis is the definition of mellow. Some good songs of theirs include "Pipe Dreams", "Side", "Driftwood", and "Why Does It Always Rain on Me". Also, they did a cover of "Baby One More Time"...very suprisingly good! (albeit goofy)

I recommend "Spiders in the Snow", "The City", "Back and Forth", and "Ellen and Ben" by The Dismemberment Plan as well.

Hope I helped.
