Jethro Tull (stadium blues-rock, featuring Ian Anderson on the flute. That's right, a rock band whose frontman plays the flute)

Black Sabbath (blues-rock turned metal, with a hint of baroque counterpoint - at least for their first two albums)

The Beatles (you must live under a rock if you haven't heard of them, you should live under a rock if you don't like them)

The Zombies (like The Beatles, but a touch more artistic and musical - yet, on average, significantly less stoned)

Pink Floyd (the band that perfected the concept album with Water's genius psychological explorations, also the culminating point of British psychadelic rock)

Bauhaus (Goth band from an era when "Goth" had more to do with literature than fashion)

The Mistifs (Punk band with a wonderful preoccupation with cheesy Sci-Fi and Horror flicks)

DEVO (Punk, but with synths, the real rebels of the 80's)

Nine Inch Nails (Reznor may not be the super-genius most of his fans think he is, but he sure does know how to write a great album just off the edge of the mainstream)

Arlo Guthrie (Great folk musician with an equally great sense for comedic storytelling. Best explained with 8x10 glossy photographs with circles, and arrows, and a paragraph on the back of each one)

The Grateful Dead (Just beautiful music, esp. "American Beauty" and "Workingman's Dead")

It's absolutly impossible to name one.... So I will name a few of the bands that have had the most influence on me and I have by far spent the most time listening too.

1) The Fields of the Nephilim... *
*If any one else has ever heard of this band or spent any time listening to them please PM me as I have never met another living soul who has ever heard of them (that I did not introduce them to first).

2) James

3) Depeche Mode

4) Classix Nouveau * another one I don't think anyone has heard of..

Who should burn in hell for their own music? Im going to say Hillary Duff. Although, I believe its only because she is EVERYWHERE right now...3 years ago I would have said Aaron Carter or Lil' Romeo x.x

Um... Ok, would someone tell me how a post that has not been posted in since 2004 all of a sudden drew a crowd? This amazes me.

Wow your open minded.

I could agree with a bit on the rap issue, a lot of it to me sounds like nothing more than basic repetitive beats, with lyrics as support. When I listen to music that sounds like some 5 sec. tempo demo on a piano that repeats itself over and over with lyrics as support, I find that to be shitty music. Music is the art of sound, not the art of lyrics. In rap/hip hop it stands more for lyrics than music itself.

Also trance is one of my favorite types of music. It does an amazing job at conveying emotion without vocals. Also another thing about trance is that it's FUCKING AWESOME at focusing on the art of build up. It's tough to beat and there's little music I've run into that can do that better than trance. Anyways, since your the one who can't define real music, but just say what isn't music without giving a logical explanation, I would like you at least in your own defense try at least say something besides.. "you idiots!!! bla, bla, bla I am fucking awesome and you don't know what music is!! haha bow before my greatness cause I just know better than all of you and I eat shit!!"
