About my last post, I made a little mistake actually the last album of their pre-century media era was "The Mind´s Eye". One of the best track form that CD would be...

Dark Tanquillity - Hedon

November's Doom, "Swallowed By The Moon"

It's pretty good, though the band name is a little misleading. This isn't the hell-slow, stone-heavy, impenetrable doom of, say, Cathedral, Neurosis, Solitude Aeturnus, or old MDB, but rather something more flavored with black metal and NWOSDM harmonics...just far enough away from Opeth to avoid the really strong impression that they're ripping Akerfeldt et al off. Since Neurosis was the only doom metal band I ever got into, this is a good thing. It gets more Opeth-y at the end, but most people will agree that that's something that needs to be said about a lot more music.

All in all, a varied but still appropriately depressing track; the album looks like it's going to be decent.

"The Dance of Eternity" - Dream Theater

Another great instrumental piece by this band. John Petrucci is an AMAZING 7 string guitarist. This song has so many differnet genres mixed into one. Its a joy to listen to.

Oooh, "I Shot The Sherif" - Eric Clapton just came on. Great cover, better than the original? Meh, that's a matter of opinion.

"Sweet Child O' Mine" - Guns 'n' Roses

Their best song in opinion, one of a few of theirs I can listen to all the way through.
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

After listeing through all my Dark Tranquillity albums I made a short compilation of their accoustic songs. My favorite one is "The Mind´s I" followed by "Ex Nihilio". Actually I was supposed to give Farlo a suggestion for one of his new amv´s (can´t tell more) thats why I went though my Dark Tranquillity CD´s, but I´m not sure which one I´d suggest cause there are many good songs for many good mv´s :!:.

And I just listened to the new single "Lost to Apathy" of their upcoming album"Character"(released January 24/25). Nice stuff, another brillinant song, the other tracks of the short single ep are also excellent. I can´t wait for their tour through Europe. Ohh .... I don´t have tickets for the concert in Oberhausen yet :? *runs off*

forgot to put a lil bit in ;)
High on fire rocks, it's the singer from sleep (after they broke up) so heavy doom influence but its not as slow by anymeans.

Fu Manchu - if you never heard of them slap yourself.

Destroy all monsters - pretty obscure rock band from the 70's/mid80's they kinda remind me of a more laid back/cleaner sounding sonic youth.

Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick

What can I say?
You've heard it before (I'm sure) many times.

Upbeat, and just is awesome Zeppelin music.
The drum solo is fun to listen to, although it may bore some to an extent.
(specifically, some of my friends)

I actually play a guessing game with myself,
where I predict when the guitar riffs will blast off from the drum solos.
By now, I have perfected that game. :)

Chevelle -Wonder What's Next

Kinda an unhappy, unhopeful song to contrast the spirit of Christmas.
I feel this way a lot, as someone who sees the world going downhill and yet can't do anything to stop it.
Ironically enough, I'm actually in a good mood...

Rage Against The Machine - "Know Your Enemy (Live)"

Thier BEST song ever. Easily. this version is even better beacause it's shorter and feels like it has a faster pace.

Sugarcult - Memory

An awesome song. I love it.
I actually made a slide show/music video of my family and friends using
over 700 pictures with this song, and that may be why I am so attached to this song. It brings back so many memories, I get a hysteria of various emotions when I listen to it.

This may never start.
I'll tear us apart.
Can I be your enemy?
Losing half a year.
Waiting for you here
I'd be your anything.

So get back, back, back to where we lasted.
Just like I imagine.
I could never feel this way.
So get back, back, back to the disaster.
My heart's beating faster.
Holding on to feel the same.

This may never start.
We could fall apart
And I'd be your memory.
Lost your sense of fear.
Feelings insincere.
Can I be your memory?
Can I be your memory?

Destillery - Intentions

I usually don´t like Heavy Metal bands cause they are just a walking clischee and copy themselfs over and over. But Destillery was one of the only bands which explored a new style on their own (and they came from my town ) so I liked them. It´s straight forward Heavy Metal / Hard Rock with awesome guitarruns and great vocals, they made 3 albums before they split up since 3 bandmembers went to university in different citys. In the meantime there were no concerts at all but when I met Roland (bassist) in Münster on Campus he said that there might be a reunion if the circumstances turn out that it´d be possible. And I still hope they´ll play a gig sometime in the future, so I can bang my head off again.

Next would be:

Lab 4 - Final Chapter

Fairly intese song. Doesn't let up. And very long. I'd hate to try to dance to it. But it's not a bad listen.
Life's short.
