Guns 'n' Roses - "Sweet Child 'o' Mine (live)"

This song always reminds me of my girlfriend.

Good times.

In music related news I'm getting a new guitar, go me!
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

The Pillows - album: Thank You My Twilight

I really got into The Pillows after watching FLCL and listening to the OSTs. Now I have a few of their albums.

Hehe, the Engrishness doesn't seem to hurt it, either.

What do you think of the series and the music in it in general though? I'm still getting a mixed response on it from my brother who's a big fan of the original manga...

David Sylvian - For the Love of Life (Monster ending, full version).

Yep, I approve. Excellent match for Monster's athmosphere and story, and it's bursting with the weird texturistic... Sylvian-ness... (vocally, lyrically and in all other musical senses) that I've come to love from the other work I've heard from him (and he is still tied in a 4-way battle for my favorite lyricist/vocalist spot).

For those who've heard the short version of it in the anime ED, it continues like this:
And what of the children?
Surely they can't be blamed
For our mistakes?

And slowly I've come to realise
It's all as it should be

That hiding space
A lonely place

How can the right thing be so wrong?
I've found mistakes
Where they don't belong

For the love of life
We'll defeat this
They may tear us down
But we'll go down fighting

won't we?

I actually find the music in the series quite good.
The anime is looking really interesting as it is progressing further.
(Seen up to EP6 currently.)

I actually had a little response from my sibling also.
Last night when I showed her a ep or two, in fact.
She has only read the 1st volume from what shes told me,
but she was telling me about how some of the people who read the manga will surely be disappointed in the anime series Beck was made into.

Music, animation, voices, etc. can't act out in manga, which enables the reader to use their preferred imagination of what everything's like.

Usually when an anime comes out of a manga, the exceptation of the reader's thoughts are often somewhat different from the anime, which often leads to disappointments.

The manga is always better than the anime for me, for those reasons.
I also flipped out when I saw the drawing of Naruto in some of the earlier episodes when it came out. (I read the manga long ago before this obivously happened.)

I obivously haven't read the manga first, or I would have surely had some doubts about the Beck series here and there.

I usually get used to it though, and it doesn't get too bad after that.

Yea, actually, that's the reason my brother is still undecided on it, although he also likes the music, he says he always imagined what they played a bit differently. Still, it's a series I'll be following.

That's also one reason I love the earlier-mentioned Monster, it's 110% faithful to the manga (the additional 10% come for actually giving it more athmosphere with sound and color, which was left up to the manga reader in the original).

King Crimson - C Chill Unchill (Improv, Rome, June 23rd 2000)

I recently ripped audio (and some video tracks, for backup) from my precious Eyes Wide Open DVD set. This one's been one of my favorite improvs for a while, very interesting soundscape stuff early on switching into rapidfire Fripp madness in the later half (at least on video, this is almost the most 'charged' I've seen him get, especially after a break in the solo about 3/4 into the track. On video, you can actually watch him rocking violently on his stool - it's almost amazing to see good ol' Grumpy get so 'into it'!).

I'm also kinda surprised how different a piece of music sounds when you listen to it in a different setting - that is, I've never heard it without watching it actually being played on video before, and that makes a huge difference in the impression. Not that it's either worse or better due to this. Just different.

death - "empty words"

i need no excuse, easily one of my favorite death songs...

Ashes and promises share a bond
Through the winds of change
Words are blown away
When visions that should be
Are tattooed in your mind
The power to let go
Is sometimes hard to find

The answer cannot be found
In the writing of others
Or the words of a trained mind
In a precious world of memories
We find ourselves confined

Claws so razor sharp
Ripping at the spirit

Promises a potential to hurt
Is anything real?
When forever is to be until
Deep inside, in the world of empty words...
No escaping from those haunting
empty words...

Do you ever feel it?
A craving that is so strong
To by thought rewind in order to find

Expectations that shined through the doubt
That soon would turn into the price
Of what a word will be worth
When tomorrow comes
To be and we are left
Standing on our own-
And seeing what is real...

The answer cannot be found
In the writing of others
Or the words of a trained mind
In a precious world of memories
We find ourselves confined

Claws so razor sharp
Ripping at the spirit

Iron Maiden ~ Deja-Vu
Fits me well...
That's what I'm feeling right now.
Back to square one. :?

"Ever had a conversation
That you realise you've had before
Isn't it strange

Have you ever talked to someone
And you feel you know what's coming next
It feels pre-arranged

'Cause you know that you've heard it before
And you feel that this moment in time is surreal
'Cause you know when you feel deja-vu"

Cradle of Filth-Nymphetamine

Liv Kristine's vocals are haunting and since I'm one of the few people who really love dani filth's voice, then this is the perfect balance...the lyrics too are probably the best of all their songs.

"cold was my soul, untold was the pain, I faced when you left me, a rose in the rain"

/end
Oh how convenient. A theory about God that doesn't require looking through a telescope.

Black Sun Empire - B'Negative (Ill Skillz Remix) which as I type switched into Eye D - Unicorn MF (Black Sun Empire Remix)

Dutch drum n' bass neurofunk (according to Ishtur's guide, without which I would have never heard of this band). Very simple patterns that build into faster and faster beat patterns. Dancing to this would be a testament to one's fortitude and/or XTC consumption...:)

Music is really good though, very 'beaty' as all drum n' bass is but with all those creepy electro touches and samples that drew me to Man or Astro-Man? at first. Light enough to dance to with all the creepiness. Might even be AMVable, though the songs would of corse have to be edited for time (8:00 of techno might be great for a mix or a dance, but not so much for a video).
Life's short.
