No, seriously, I've been listening to this for a week now. I just kinda left it in my car CD player.
Since this is supposed to be a concept album, and I couldn't figure out any of the lyrics, I've been listening to this record pretty obsessively. I've deciphered some of the meaning behind, say, the last three tracks. I also found out that their co-lyricist/noisemaker's suicide did not in fact destroy the band, and they are releasing a new album very, very soon. I think before the end of the year. Hoorah!
I think after this I'll switch to something else for a while, though. I don't want to wear out its welcome. Anyone else have albums they listen to constantly for long periods of time?
De-Loused is one of them, I believe.
I don't usually, since I do have a variety available from similar musical veins, but I was in the habit of repeatedly playing King Crimson's "The Power To Believe" over and over last year.
Captain Beefheart's "Trout Mask Replica" and Frank Zappa's "Sheik Yerbouti" can really get stuck with me. As can Gentle Giant's "Octopus", "Acquiring the Taste", "Free Hand", "Power and Glory" and "In A Glass House".
However, the two musical releases that truly and constantly get over-and-over play are King Crimson's "Heavy ConstruKction" (3CD) and "Great Deceiver" (4CD, soon-to-be 5 or 6) box sets. I can't recall a two-week period in recent history when either of those did not find its' way into my listening - usually in full.
