Guns n' Roses at the vma's....

Postby Iamshadowkiller » Fri Aug 30, 2002 1:45 am

Alright, for those who don't know what I'm talking about, or don't even know who G n' R are..just ...ignore this post and run as far away as possible as you can.....now for my point....

It is true that the magic is completely gone....pretty much all of the original members are gone.....Axl's voice didn't seem to endure the passing of the time...but for someone who has been a fan of G n' R for a long long time, seeing them again on stage, more specifically , Axl, it was a great sight indeed....I hope this was just a small sample of greater things to come, although I doubt it, for now I'm just happy to see G n' R perform once again....as for the future....

*puts on his Appetite for Destruction cd *

That album is older than some of the people on this board - scary or what.

I don't like very many of their songs. The songs I do like are:

Don't Cry (Original and Alternate lyrical version) and Knocking on Heaven's Door.

To me they still are the most fun band to listen to ever. Not even a question.

yes, they did perform welcome to the jungle, and as much as of a fan as I am of G n' R...I have to say that their performance, although I loved it....it was mostly because it was Guns n' Roses.....Axl's voice is not the same anymore...perhaps all the drinking and smoking finally caught up to him.....and about the band...the magic is gone without the original members......;_;.....but still, like I said, it WAS G n' R....so I was glad to see them perform despite the differences.......

Eh he's an old man now, and yeah the drugs and the booze and the smoking has caught up to him...but hes still much cooler than anyone else alive.

I bet you if Chinese Democracy ever comes out, his voice will sound perfect. His voice wasnt so hot last night, but you'd be amazed at what you can do in a studio now. As lame as I think that is, I'm all for it only because its GNR :D

Or who knows, maybe it was just a bad night. I had a bootleg from their 2 vegas shows the past 2 years and the rio shows and his voice sound a billion times better than last night. Wishfull thinking I guess. God when it comes to GNR, I'm such a fucking fan boy.

I also saw those shows from Rio....and it does bring some hope...but the fact of the matter is that after a long abscense.....this vma performance is their "official" comeback in to the world.....and it wansn't such a great introduction for those who had never even heard of them before last night.....I too am a very big fan of G n' R, they're the reason I began listening to rock in the first place....but we have to admit that last night's performance was not the greatest....one can only hope though;_;...

Yeah, all 3 of the songs were cut I bet.

I thought Axl was maybe just a bit out of practice. (maybe?) I thought the band did fine (as Axl said "they were very excited to play this stuff" ... as any musician with talent would love to perform as a member of GNR... well many musicians hehe)

The faux-slash didn't look like he was into it at all. :P (but the music sounded good)

I think he was also extremely excited... which lead to him sometimes not having the microphone close to his mouth... haha.

The new material was weird... but I thought it wasn't bad... just something new for Axl. (sampled music... weird!)

Regardless, it was cool to see/hear GNR again. (though I think conning slash into joining again would make it outright perfect) GNR was a powerful force in the 80s and early 90s and to this day I enjoy owning/listening to their cds.

I am hoping for the best but I know that I shouldn't have any expectations at all.
I have sinned. I made a video I wanted to make that was music + anime + sync + action + effects/transitions. Oh lordy.

¬¬....I'll pretend I didn't read that.....you cannot compare G n' R to blink182...never, even if Axl Rose sang only one lyric....and he pronounced it wrong..and half the members were on crack...and it was raining acid....will you get my point, there is no way Blink 182 can be compared or ever be better than G n' R.....no matter how you look at it...not an angry rant...just a matter of fact...
