"Art of life.
An eternal bleeding heart, you never wanna breathe your last.
Wanna live, can't let my heart kill myself
Still I'm feeling for
A rose is breathing love, in my life..."
-Art of Life (X-Japan)

"Time through the rain has set me free
Sands of time will keep your memory
Love everlasting fades away
Alive within your beatless heart"
-Tears (X-Japan)

"Crucify my love - If my love is blind
Crucify my love - If it sets me free
Never know, Never trust
That love should see a color
Crucify my love - If it should be that way"
-Crucify My Love (X-Japan)

Silent jealousy, don't you leave me alone. Falling into sadness, adored by love, that I can't return to. Into this repetitive solitude. Tell me true, where ever I go, I must learn to love this pain. I still want your love, stop your love. Silence the memories where the madness grows.
-Silent Jealousy (X-Japan)

pink spider
'now it's hopeless'
pink spider
'although the sky is visible'
pink spider
'I'm a failure'
pink spider
'I want wings'
-Pink Spider (hide)

Everybody wants to be somebody, it's nothing more than common sense. Yeah! But everyone needs to be somebody. Where's the common sense in that!?
-Pose (hide)

There's something very depressing about non-native English speakers writing better lyrics in English than you do.

At Your Funeral
by: Saves the Day

this song will become
the antheme of
you're underground
you're two floors down
getting high in the back room
if i flooded out your house
do you think you'd make it out
would you burn up before the water
filled up ur lungs
and at your funeral
i will sing
the requiem (sp?)
this song will become
the antheme of
you're underground
you're two floors down
getting high in the back room
if i flooded out your house
do you think you'd make it out
would you burn up before the water
filled up ur lungs
and at your funeral
i will sing
the requiem (sp?)
i'd offer you my hand
it would hurt too much
to watch you die
and you can bet
when we mourn the death
of you that night
but lay me on the dinner table
i will be the pig
with the apple in my mouth
the food that celebrates your end
and at your funeral
i will sing the requiem
i'd offer you my hand
it would hurt too much
to watch you die

(dedicated to you shadow ;) )

Letters to You
by: Finch

can't you see
that i wanna be
there with open arms
its empty tonight
and i'm all alone
can you prove this one
do you know that
i'd die
where do you run to
so far
i want you to know that
i miss you, i miss you so
i want you to know that
i miss you, i miss you so
i writing again
these letters to you
how much i know
but i'm not sleeping
and you're not here
its what stops my heart
do you notice
i've gone
where do you run to
so far
i want you to know that
i miss you, i miss you so
i want you to know that
i miss you, i miss you so

Runaway
by: Linkin Park

Graffiti decorations
Under the sky of dust
A constant wave of tension
On top of broken trust
The lessons that you taught me
I learned were never true

Pre chorus:
Now I find myself in question
They point the finger at me again
Guilty by association
You point the finger at me again

I wanna run away
Never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth
Instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers
No more lies
I wanna shut the door
And open up my mind

Paper bags and angry voices
Under a sky of dust
Another wave of tension
Has more than filled me up
All my talk of taking action
These words were never true

Now this is mocking:

Searching for blood
Killing humans
Craving for flesh
Bloodlust for death
Gnawing on the mangled corpses
Stripping, tearing skins from the bones
Rabid hunger
Infest the earth
Covered with rats
Eaten to death

Yes, these are the complete lyrics from Mortician's "Rats" off the _Chainsaw Dismemberment_ CD.

Or how about the following:

Storm is coming, darkness is falling,
night of terror
Insane killer, lust for murder,
death and torture
Axe in the hand, knife through the throat,
killed by arrows
Eviscerated, swift beheading,
blood is spraying

being complete lyrics to "Camp Blood" from the same album.

Will Rahmer = cannibal beatnik. None of these lyrics are repeated, just perfect little phrases of terror and bloodlust to paint an artistic mental picture in viscera and bodily fluids.

*stuffs fist in mouth to keep from laughing aloud*

Translation of Du Hast (this is a rough translation):

Chorus:
You
You Hate
You Hate Me

Chorus (X4)

You Hate Me to say it

You Hate Me to say it

You Hate Me to say it

You Hate Me to say it, and i will not (be restraned)

Will you until death does part, be true to her forever

No!

No!

Will you until death does part, be true to her forever

No!

No!

...

Chorus (X3)

You Hate Me

You Hate Me to say it

You Hate Me to say it

You Hate Me to say it

You Hate Me to say it, and i will not (be restraned)

Will you until death does part, be true to her forever

No!

No!

kiddingchris wrote:Translation of Du Hast (this is a rough translation):

No kidding. This bears very little relationship to the original German, and a lot of resemblance to the horribly concept-hacked English take on the US release of _Sehnsucht_. Here's a proper translation:

You (Du)
you have * (Du hast)
you have me (Du hast mich)
you have asked me (Du hast mich gefragt)
you have asked me and I have said nothing (Du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab' nichts gesagt)

Do you want, until death seperates you, (Willst du, bis der Tod euch scheidet)
to be faithful to her for all days (treu ihr sein fuer alle Tage)

No (Nein)

Do you want, until death, which would seperate, ** (Willst du, bis zum Tod, der scheide)
to love her, even in bad days (sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen)

No (Nein)

* When Till is just saying "Du hast," it sounds as if he could either be saying "Du hast" (you have) or "Du hasst" (you hate). This is probably to give the song a double meaning, even though the official lyrics say "Du hast."

** There is another sort of double meaning here. If the line is read as "Tod der Scheide" it would be "until the death of the vagina" and not "until death, which would seperate" ("Tod, der scheide"). The whole song is a play on German wedding vows (Wollen Sie einander lieben und achten und die Treue halten bis dass der Tod euch scheidet? - Do you want to love and respect each other and to remain faithful, until death seperates you?). Instead of answering with "Ja," Till says "Nein," finally answering the question he said nothing to in the beginning.

This is from http://www.herzeleid.com/en/lyrics/sehn ... nslation#5 ; I was going to translate it myself, but don't have the CD handy, and I wasn't sure I'd be able to remember the lyrics exactly. By the way, the bit about hate in note * is wrong; the verb hassen (to hate) is conjugated:

ich hasse
du haesst
er/sie/es haesst

wir hassen
ihr hasst
sie hassen

Sie hassen

Obviously, since Till is using the du-form (singular) of address, he's not going to use the ihr-form (plural) of the verb. That 'ae' combination should really be a-umlaut (the a with the little dots over it), but I'm not certain how to render non-ASCII characters here.

The line "sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen" is also quite tough, and I'm not sure that it's translated properly above. As it stands, it's gramattically incorrect, and a better reading might use the 'Tod der Scheide' bit from note ** and render this line as "they will also love in the bad days".

wakan'ne, yo. Assistance from other German-speakers is appreciated.

For me, what makes a song memorable is it's a classic, being that it has survived decades in the media and still is good to listen to.

My two classic songs are:

"Over the rainbow"
and
"What a wonderful world"

Both were sung by Louis Armstrong and they are still alive today. New voices to both song's are those of Eva Cassidy, her Songbird cd is out. A recommended must hear.
