How do you guys like punk in anyway? It's my favorite music, such bands as Millencolin, Donots, A, Pennywise and MxPx are just awesome :D

Pennywise, MXPX, and Millencolin are older favorites... I guess I'm more into the pop-punk stuff, these days, compared to such.

Too many bands to list that are favorites... other than New Found Glory, Finch and The Starting Line are my bands of choice, right now.

Heh, I'd pretty much mirror VegettoEX's thoughts. I love New Found Glory, Mest, Finch, The Starting Line, Homegrown, Midtown... ummm... crap, I hate forgetting who else I like. ;_;

punk is, and always will be one of my favorite genres of music. i will always love pennywise, anti-flag, bad religion, pipedown, beatsteaks, and 98 mute.

however, alot, if not the majority of punk bands suck... it's sad...but it's just the way it is. i love the aspect of enjoying punk music. cause if you start up a conversation with one of those bastard jocks/preps in school about music. they always have never heard of the bands i mention. oh it's great to see the look on their face when they say, "Yeah I'm into Bad Religion. They did what's my age again right?"

That's not cool. No need to mock "jock" or "prep" kids or the scene. Tons of people would say that the bands you mentioned are jock rock, or not punk at all. Just take things into consideration and listen to some icarus line.

odd, i had no idea you went to my high school. as you obviously know how the jocks/preps act around here in upper virginia. you see, i live in a rather poor part of northern virginia, and the school system out here is uber retarded. they started building and destroying high schools all over the place. so the school by my 'poor' town was demolished. now we have to be schooled in the 'rich' part of town with abercrombie wearing bastard preps. i'm sorry if i offend with the truths of how it is where i live. i would love to break out of the stereotype that is bastard preps and befriend a prep. but, they are all bastards.

and calling anti-flag not punk. you ever heard em? thought not...

I'm into Hey Stroker (VegettoEX, IM me, and I'll send you some stuff), Dead Kennedys, but I'm mostly into ska. Reel Big Fish, Save Ferris, Aquabats, Spring Heeled Jack...

Depends on what you're talking about.

I am fond of old school punk, like the Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, DK, Black Flag and the Circle Jerks.

Green Day has a bit of a Punk Sound as well and I like them.

Goldfinger is sort of Ska/Punk
and Bad Religion is OK

I never thought Blink 182 was punk - they don't sound very punk to me.

Never call Blink 182 Punk :?
They are one of those gay bands that don't know whether to stay as 'punk' or be a pop/rock group. Or if they want to go rap. (I heard them try to live it was so sad..)

Craig's Brother (amazing punk band!), NOFX, HeyMike!, Inspection 12, Bad Astronaut, Closet Monster (My friend's brother is in the band how cool is that!), Saves the Day(not really punk but if you like punk listen to them!), Dashboard Confessional (again not punk but defined as Emo same goes for Saves the Day), Weezer, Refused (I love these guys!), Sevendust (again not punk more metal/rock type) and finally Incubus!!!!

Now I must agree with Temjin although I try to keep an open mind, more then half the percentage of jocks in my school or 'wrappers' as I call 90% of them, are infact very umm.....idiotic to the term punk.
The assume Sum 41 and Blink 182 are 'punk' and since they are so easily change their opinion usually say "Oh ya I love Punk, especially "Fat Lip"." I ask them other bands and usually its the same "Blink 182, Sum 41 and Linkin Park." I'm not saying these bands are bad I am just saying that they are far from the genre of punk. Blink 182 was there in its earlier albums but then they grew commercial as did Linkin and Sum.

As for that the 'wrappers' (Wannabe Rappers), well they continue to listen to their 'punk' and their Bling Bling Shoot em up music. (^_^ Sorry to sterotype but its so true, while walkin' down the halls thats all you hear!)

Well I hope my bands became useful and I hope my small rant did not put the rest of you to sleep.

Rozard you have excellent choice in music :D as do you Temjin

For one thing, I have heard of anti-flag. Personally, they aren't my thing at all, but thats another story. Anywho you said before something along the lines of how many of the punk bands out today suck. That is just a completly misinformed statement. Your right, I don't know how it is in northern viriginia, but I'm sure it is possible one way or another to hear newer, lesser know bands that really are making the scene great somewhere around you. I've never been through, or heard of a general area where there was absolutly no bar, no club, no dirty basement where kids could rock out. That, and theirs always good ole mp3's. But hey, if you want to sit around and listen to old men who tell you to "Fuck authority" on their record as they count their riches in their manhatten beach mansions on their cell phones doing every last thing their label tells them too, then its your call.

As for your strife against jocks and preps, ease up. I'm a jock, a prep, a hardcore indy rock kid (btw, the current stereotype against them is "Prettyboys") and apparantly since I'm on this site, and anime fan. Bet you wouldnt be able to guess all that from just a look in a high school. Who knows, maybe the popular kid in your school with the banana republic shirt has the berserk dvds next to the tv with the new tabula rasa cd in the car.

I think some of the older Green Day stuff (around and before the 'Dookie' era) is punk, so I like that. Older Weezer stuff is good too, only it's more Emo than Punk.
Rancid
Reel Big Fish
Fugazi
NoFX
MxPx
Stretch Armstrong
Mr. Bungle
Sonic Youth up to Daydream Nation
Any band that was on SST Records up till 1985 (This would be bands such as Black Flag, The Minutemen, Meat Puppets, Screaming Trees, Early Soundgarden)
Sleater-Kinney

Yeah, stuff like that is good.
