you should answer your own posts, it's sort of courteous if you expect someone else to respond. but, anyway, it's not a really sad song, but i was thinking about life while i was listening to it, and the tune really got to me. and i started to cry(uber pansy). it's , "nobody's fault but my own," by beck.

Hmm... tough question. "Fade to Black" by Metallica comes to mind. "Illusion" by Trail of Tears is pretty sad too. "Fiddler on the Green" by Demons and Wizards is actually pretty sad after I got over how amazing it was :D . Actually I had a whole list of really sad songs because I was going to make a CD of them... but I seem to have lost it  . And now that I think about it... why would I want to make such a depressing CD?

Oh yeah, "Melancholy" and "Watching Over Me" (both by Iced Earth) struck me as being really sad when I heard them.

I know, they're sad like willy wanka and the chocolate factery when they become diabetic and spend the rest of the movie in the hospital.

Nightswimming by REM.

Well, the SADDEST was some song I heard a long time ago, off a "More Songs from The Lion King" soundtrack sort of thing, but I can't remember what it was called.

So lacking that:

Nightswimming by REM.

And it's subtle. Subtle is good.

Time to say goodbye by Sarah Brightman is probably the saddest song I have ever heard. I suppose those songs have a greater effect on you when you are already in a depressed mood though.

Temjin, your random brand of comedy is refreshing after having attended a tiring get together this evening :P Thanks
