Where do you go to buy your CDs?

Postby SephirothJenova » Mon Sep 01, 2003 12:01 am

I've been going to Best Buy and Borders for the past several months to get my CDs and stuff. I know that they don't have all the music that I've been looking for and have been downloading off the internet (I use the internet to just preview songs or just get one or two songs from a certain CD), but I don't think that they have everything. I was wondering if there were other types of music stores that sell wider variety of CDs.

Lately, Amazon, because I'm lazy and the variety is large. Other than that I usually shop at used-CD stores, which aren't great for selection usually.

Good Records, Best Buy, and (if you have my taste in music, this is good too) hot topic.

Good Records is an awsome store, but if they don't carry it and I'm forced to go some where else I'll check out Wherehouse Music, then Tower Records, and lastly virgin. Virgin isn't a very good store, over priced and they don't have very much stuff aside form what's "in" right now, tho sometimes I'll find they're the only store to have a copy of something I'm looking for. They're always a last resort tho.

HMV (the DVD nazi's) and Sunrise Records. Sunrise usualy has a pretty good selection and decent prices. I don't buy stuff online yet, but that may change.

buying music online means you have to wait for it.

I only ever buy offline if it's a preorder where get extra stuff, and it'll be here by the release date, or if it's a cd I don't care too much about and I have extra money in my account.

that was sort of a general comment that didn't just pretain to music. There are some things that are impecably hard to find in any stores in brampton. Ev, Tool - Salival box set ... fucking impossible to get, even though HMV advertises it on their website you think they'd be able to order it? no ... fucking turds.

Plugging the band name into Google or any search engine will usually turn up a band page where you can order stuff directly. You can also shop around to find good prices.

I generally try to buy used CDs lately, for which the aforementioned Amazon.com has been very good for, at least in my experience.

I go to a small independant store called "Slipdisc". "Slipdisc" usually has the rare and indie stuff at decent prices(no cd is over $15.99).

If its something new I usually go to BestBuy.

HMV still suprises me with what they carry sometimes. Except that one in Metrotown mall in Vancouver. I don't what the hell is up with that particular store.

Amazon is good, I like going directly to label online stores, like waxploitation and Positron.
