New Age...sorta?

Postby BishounenStalker » Sun Aug 17, 2003 10:35 am

Anyone else here heard of David Arkenstone? Little-known new age artist. My dad started buying his stuff just based on the name (he and I are both Tolkien freaks). He does mostly instrumental, and the inserts of his most recent albums contain short stories written by Mercedes Lackey (author of the Mage Winds trilogy).

He's a weird guy. But most good musicians are weird :?

You might want to check out Mortiis' early stuff if you like Tolkien-inspired music.
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.

You might want to look up his "Music Inspired by Middle Earth" (2001). It's his (their) own work and is not associated with the movies. In fact, I think it's better than the movie OST (which is not that bad, either).

His ex-wife, Diane, also makes music. Hers is more...ethereal, I guess, and she does more vocal pieces than he does. The two of them have released CDs together under the group name, Enaid (Diane spelled backwards). (Interview with Diane A. - Hard to believe someone this young has had four pacemaker implants...and she's still making music. :? )
