Even if there is a Satan, and satanic music, it doesn't change the fact there are non believers in religion because there is not ONE single bit of evidence of higher powers.

I'm using this to support the fact that no "mear mortal" has the power tob rainwash you with their music.

Even if they support Satan or what not, their music can in no way harm you. Kids that fall victim to these lyrics and such are weak minded, adolesent, and fucking retarded.

You have no idea how many kids a year kill themselves to Blink-182 - Adam's Song. ANY IDIOT that reads these lyrics can tell it's an ANTI suicide song.

Music is not what pushes these kids to the edge of insanity, it's just a crutch, a scape goat.

So music being "satanic" is NOT good a reason to not enjoy music. You listen to what you like the sound of, and you take in what you want tot ake in.

You're fighting so hard to stay away from this "satanic" music. It wouldn't be very hard to ignore it even if you were listening to it.

Look at all these fucking retarded rap artists, singing about being black, and "gangsta" They act like they're so proud to be "thugs" and it makes kids around the U.S. want to be like them.

These are the fucking retarded kids I've been tlaking about, that have no mind of their own and simply follow trends.

If you';re strong enough to completley block a band or an entire genre out, you're not a weak enough minded person to be taken over by "satanic" lyrics.

And again, in support to everyone that's already said it. Your mother is biast, what she tells you means nothing to us, if she told us in person tho, maybe it might. And your first reason for not liking music, "bad music is just music that is bad or not good" is completley subjective.

You've still yet to give us a good reason that makes somehting bad.

One line, no reasoning, no facts to back this up.

Now I'm sure of it, you are a troll, and I, for one, have fed you for entirely too long.

I am in accoradnce with many of you on the MTV pop punk cancer that has infested america. It makes MTV the Demi-God of girls 12-16 and of homosexual boys of all ages. As for the 80's hairband rock.

I'll tell you I am a big NIN fan. Their was a time when I didn't like NIN (I remember my first cd was Hootie & The Blowfish. Which I will never admit publicly!) Then I bought "THE FRAGILE" by NIN and it was great. Many of NIN's songs in general have something to do with sex or religon and they make you realize that their are others out there who question things about life, religon, and emotion. I also like the way NIN uses the continuation of ideas through many of their albums like: broken & fixed, the downward spiral & further down the spiral, THE FRAGILE & things falling apart. the songs on the albums pertain to these concepts by continuing on the ideas of their predecessor's.
As for NIN's music it is very layered. Their is instrumentation in the background that you often don't hear the first time. Then their is what I have dubbed the "precho" ("pre-echo") that is found in many NIN songs it is the lyrics or a piece of the music occuring before it actually occurs, not an introduction or a lead in like an echo but occuring before instead of after.

TOOL- I have never been a big TOOL fan, I still don't like their videos (WTF). I use to see their videos once in a blue moon on that channel that use to show music, what was it called? "MT..something. Anyway, I like many others thought TOOL was just a weird screaming Devil band but then I listened to some of their stuff and yeah some of it's deep, very deep: "Ænema", "Eulogy", "Stinkfist" (get it, deep :)) but some of it is irrelevant, humorous, and has no real meaning: "Hooker with a Penis", "Prison Sex" . So that makes TOOL good: they can go from being emotionally deep to meaning less rants. As for their music they have some very catchy guitar riffs.
One bad thing about TOOL is everyone I know who starts listening to them gets rid of all their other music and only listens to TOOL and always converses about how "TOOL are the greatest band ever" and any other music is "not as good as TOOL" but oh well.

Ramones Fan, I uploaded this mp3 to my server JUST for you to hear.

This is a very hardcore punk band, but no matter how much they scream you can't tell me they're "satanic"

This band has officialy been labeled christian rock by countless record labels and music critiques. No matter how much they scream it won't change the fact that their lyrics are clean and spiritual.

I'm still wondering whether to get into the Tool thing or not. I'm friendly towards the band, but I'm worried about getting too far in, and cautious since it seems too popular. But I will, one day, since so far I liked what I've heard.

NIN - I can't hate it, it's some solid music as well. Plus, Adrian Belew, one of my music heroes, contributed a few solos to NIN, and that's a good enough reason to like it for me

And if we go deep into the whole satanic thing - ask some hardcore Muslim, they think all music is from the devil. But, if we don't stretch it - still, a lot of modern music, with evil lyrics or not, has its' basis in various mystic/occult concepts. Numbers, symbols, names, etc.... Then you might want to remember where metal in general takes it's origins from...

Darkness in music is not often just darkness for the sake of darkness. Listening to bright, relaxing music is entertaining, listening to dark and disturbing music is educational. On one hand, it can take your mind places where you wouldn't dare normally go, on the other hand - where there's understanding of darkness, there's room for hope. It might sound odd, but listening to dark and outwardly unpleasant music is often very refreshing.

Now stop taking everything you hear in music literally (if there is such a thing) and you might find it all to be not so bad. But, again, that's a subjective thing.

It IS sad however that you think that FREAK Manson is a great lyricist. He's an evil person, ask my mom, she hates him too. My mom thinks I have good musical taste, because I like alot of different music, and I know what's good, and I stay away from that crap like Manson, Tool, Slipknot, etc. My mom said there was an interview with Paul McCartney once where he was asked WHAT KIND of music he liked, and he said "Good music", and I like "Good music" too. Manson, Fear Factory, Tool, NIN, and Slipknot and all the other bands like that aren't "Good music", they're "Bad music".

YEAH! that's so right dude, i have a couple of friends who are hardcore fans of tool and yeah they like other bands also BUT they always keep saying like "yeah they're good but not as good as tool" i dont know maybe tool use subliminal messages in their music  .

Im not a big fan of tool and im a fan of them because of maynard he's just an awsome singer! but when APC came out, my interest in tool faded; Apc style is more simple and let's say more "Mellow" and im more into that.

Okay, to RamonesFan:

Marilyn Manson is an official in the Church of Satan. So yes, he is a satanist, in the actual meaning.

NIN, which is mostly just Trent Reznor, is not satanic. It switches between agnostic/atheist, but never goes into devil worship.

I'm starting to think you may be mormon, in which case, the body is a temple, and you don't want to pollute yourself.

That's a very valid viewpoint. However, music is only music. I listened to Manson and NIN in highschool, and I never became satanic.
The last two CD's I bought were from "Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel", a politicallly-minded industrial band, and "Apollo 440", a techno-dance group. (and no, I'm not just trying to be pretentious by stating this)

These are two distinct genres, neither of which will permanently mark me as a member of either stereotypical "fanbase".

So base music on whether you enjoy it, now what you fear it may say about you. If there is a God, do you really think he will punish you for all eternity because you listened to "the Dope Show" a couple times?
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.
