Although i am not a fan of rap, if i thought that a rap song would fit well with an anime(which i have never done) i would consider making it just like any other vid. If the glove fits wear it, it just always seems that the rap glove is to small or to big :o

god i rock at those analogy thingamagigys

Most ppl here just don't like rap that much, so they don't use it. It's the same with R&B, country, jazz, new age, opera, etc.

who the hell says???

I could technically post this one on the Donut if there's enough interest....there's no sexual nudity, just no semblance of taste. Those who want me to brave the wrath of the donut mods notify via mail, followup post, pm, etc.

Maybe I should say that Rock etc etc.... translate into AMV's easier because of the characters rainbow of emotions reflect more of rocks songs and there content then, to rap songs and there content most of the times.

Rock is really too broad a definition. For the most part, it's really a convinient disguise to stick virtually any kind of music into.

The more popular, mainstream kinds of rock are generally easier to translate into AMV's. But go a little off to the side, and you get into territory that's less AMV-friendly.

Although that's not altogether true. If you really want to, you can make an AMV to any kind of music. Just that you have to have enough interest/inspiration to do it.

The reason for prevalence of pop-rock AMV's is mostly the fact that more people are interested in those sorts of music.

Look at where Linkin Park is on the charts.
Look how long Dragonball Z has been obscenely popular.

Now see all the LPZ videos.

Gee, think they're could be a connection?

It's not because certain styles "fit" better, because all music is based on emotions. It's because certain styles are more popular. A rap song could make a good AMV - but there have to be people willing to make them. Apparently, those people are few and far between right now.

We could also get into a rap vs. hip hop debate here, but I'd be out of my element.

But hey, I just found a yaoi vid set to Project Pitchfork (although not one of their better songs) so hey, anything's possible.
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.

I wish more people would stop complaining and start writing opinions! Then less "bad" vids would be released as time goes on...

Ops dont change anything if the person doesnt care about them Omni. Or if the person thinks of them as an ego blow job, as so many newbs do.

Well, you COULD give them straight 1s... Thereby pretty much making their vid ignored by all and they'll just well, sit there on the server taking up useless space... [ ]

"Ego blow job?" That's the "all 10s" fanboys good sir. I would sooo NOT be proud of having a vid whose total averages are below 6... Who'd opinionate such a vid anyway?!

heh heh, yeah...

Well, my view is that rap as a whole is just harder to find good clips for and meld into a good AMV. There is plenty of great music out there in any category that would make a good AMV the hard part is finding it. Now rock, on the other hand, is much easier to get an AMV put together. Most of the songs for any particular sub-genre in rock are pretty versitile and can be manipulated to do most any type of video.
All genres have their strong points and I'm sure someone with either enough free time or enough skill could craft a great video with any style of music.

Rap is a genre that can support any anime just as well as other genre. I've done a rap AMV that people told me was somewhat decent, but I can't show it at any cons besides AWA due to rules. Not impossible to make one done to a story at all. Might do that one day. Hell, might even upload my vid to the server sometime.

There is definitely a music imbalance in the AMV scene, though that's probably due to the demographic making these vids in the first place. It's part of what inspired me to make AMV's; to give a little exposure to rarely seen anime titles and music that's something other than hard rock or techno. Likewise, I wanted to be exposed to some new stuff myself.

Personally I think most rap sucks for amv because it's too static with it's beat pattern. ALL of the good AMV that I've seen have a massive number of transitions, overlays and switches matched to whatever. You just don't get that kind of action in rap music, because it's the lyrics that drive the song, not the music. (generally speaking.)

Ok... so some people think rap would make for a good AMV. Go make one. There can't be a shortage of songs vs footage that's appropriate. maybe you'll open someones eyes, but even if you don't.. who cares. You do this for your own enjoyment and the satisfaction that goes along with it right?

I seem to recall a couple that did just fine recently, didn't vicbond007 use will smith? There was a suck ass 'you can't touch this' to naruto... It's there. Kinda.

Now I'm not saying go grab 'king of the hill' off fox and mix it to 'backyard boogie' and you'll get a great response. But you could try something like Tricky: she makes me wanna die (replacement killers) and Battle Angel or something like that. Hell you could even use that M&M song that was so popular a couple months ago.

Personally I can't stand it for the most part since the stuff I hear is really selfish (my house, my car, my watch, my girl, my gun: you come to the 'wes side' you be messin with my house, my car, my girl you be seein' my gun etc...)

so.. I guess that actually answers your original question.
