How are you exposed to new bands?

Postby Bushido Philosopher » Sun Jun 22, 2003 12:44 am

I think I pretty much saturated everything from Earth Wind and Fire to Evanescence.

Plus, I wanna make an AMV to an artist that's great before it becomes played out and ultimately ignored because of it.

So anyone know a place where I can get exposed to new artists?

Music forums.

What kinds of music are you into? Everything? If so, I've got some suggestions you may not have heard of. Mostly metal type stuff, but I've got more than I can handle.

i meant more like bands that are just coming out or don't really have a contract with a huge company. Say like Lillix or Evanescense that released their very first album just this year. So not really new to me in particular, just new to everyone.

"New To Everyone" is realitive to the group of "everyone" your talking about. Flind, Rubeye and Myself could probably each rattle off 10-15 different bands only about 5 or 6 people in the AMV community have heard of. You want bands that are JUST breaking out? Go see some local shows.

I could do just as well. And I bet Kai Stromler could do even better. But I don't see how this got turned into a competetion...

that first word was supposed to be flint. It wasn't a competition, I was merely making it a point that the 3 of us (really the only three that came to mind, my appologies to KS and NeoGohan) could name a shitload of GOOD music that most people havent heard of.

I'll let you think you won, much like I'd let a mental moron think he's a flying elephant.

Internet Radio is good. Stations like RantRadio and Digital Gunfire are my favourites, but it depends on what you like.

Label samplers are nice, usually put some of their better stuff on there.

Soundtracks are good - I first heard Stabbing Westward on the "Faculty" soundtrack, and Mortal Kombat introduced me to KMFDM and Type 0 Negative.

Random browsing of the record store can be fun, if risky.

And I do believe some great bands have been mentioned on this forum (the best ones from me!)
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.
