Buying OSTs

Postby Bushido Philosopher » Sat Apr 12, 2003 5:48 pm

Say, anyone know a reliable place to get OSTs?
Plus, most of my search results have come up with places that charge import fees almost as much as the actual thing itself.

If you have any suggestions then please post.

My favourite is CD Japan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp). They sell for Japanese retail price and if you get a bunch of people together (like your local anime club) to place the order, shipping costs aren't nearly as extreme.

This afternoon I went into a local Suncoast for the first time in over a year. Right in front of the door was a stand with anime soundtrack cd's selling for $15 each. I've heard that Pioneer and ADV were selling legit "region 1" music cd's, but this is the first time I saw them.

The Right Stuf is selling them online:

They're legal and lot cheaper than the imports.

I wanted to get the Oh My Goddess Movie OST, but they only had one copy and the case was cracked. I'm still looking, but it's not a high priority. I don't listen to much Japanese music anymore.

Except...tonight I'm playing some Akina Nakamori CD's, trying to get an AMV idea going. She's not a voice actress; she was a hot (some say "very hot!") idol singer in the late Eighties. The stress of fame and a failed relationship overcame her, and she attempted and failed at suicide about 14 years ago. After some years she recovered and still sings today.

The thing is, I finished the anime, Chance Pop Session, yesterday. Great series, and one of the main characters is a former idol star who attempted suicide after her husband died. An AMV seems appropriate...if only I understood Japanese lyrics better.

Way off topic here, but maybe this will prompt someone else with a similar idea for that anime.
