Does Evanescence Not Rock?

Postby josepi » Thu Apr 03, 2003 8:52 pm

Are they not the best thing to come along in a long while. They have such depth to their songs and their singer is one of teh best things to happen to hard rock in about 2 or 3 years.

No. Linkin Park has no hope of ever writing a 6.5 minute song. I love the band but no.

actually his analogy is pretty accurate

Evanescence is pretty much LP with a female vocalist.. hell thier Fallen album is a total rework of thier original Origins album, which sounds more like Within Temptation, probably to get the catchy and much more rocking sound of Lacuna Coil.. both bands do the sound better than Evanescence and have been doing it for a long time..

Its just wierd that ALOT of people are talking about Evanescence now as something new and great.. when bands that they have copied have been doing it for years..

it makes me wonder how many bands that are being established have already done that.. hell.. If I never known about Lacuna Coil for so many years, I'd probably think Evanescence was great too.. so I guess I understand how your thinking

I was listening to Lacuna Coil one day when my roomie said they sounded like Evanessence, who I had previously never heard of. I downloaded some of their stuff, and found out that they sang that Bring Me to Life song that had been in my head all day.

I love the female vocalist. The male rage rocker vocalist can vanish off of the face of the earth and I wouldn't cry.

Yes, Evanessence sounds just like other bands. Hell, I have personally described them as a mainstreamed Nightwish. But, I do like their sound myself.

The female vocalist needs to go solo, or get some better musicians. ^_^

I was surprised when I found out Evanescence was going to be in the DareDevil soundtrack (about 3 weeks before the movie was out) though I wasn't sure if it was a good idea, still not sure either. I like the group..but I prefere Guano Apes more...

I like them better than Linkin Park. Every track on "Fallen" is good to awesome, with one exception.

I've never heard of those other bands, but I'll check them out.

Mainstreamed Nightwish? Have you not heard Century Child? .. Evanessence sounds nothing like this cd! =p

Either way, when I first heard them all I could think about was how much they reminded me of nightwish, so I concur.

That's what I'm talkin' about. No, they don't sound EXACTLY like Nightwish, but they are similar. Well, at least until the guy kicks in. It'd be more accurate to say that the girl from Evannesence reminds me of Tarja.
