Re: The Otakon 2010 Thread (OK now panic)

Hetalia, on the other hand... -_- Frontier Works haaaaaates it. My third strike for YouTube was a really dumb Hetalia video that wasn't even very well edited, used probably no more than 40 seconds of footage (repeated over and over for lip synch) over edited-down SNL audio. Tried to tell YT it wasn...

Re: The Otakon 2010 Thread (OK now panic)

Emo/Srs Bsnss: Defying Gravity. There wasn't a video in this category that I didn't love. Meri and Mike cranked out an interesting Tainted Donuts tribute, Re-Evolution Studios actually made a Clannad video that made the story a bit more accessible to those of us who've never seen the show, Mycathat...

Re: The Otakon 2010 Thread (OK now panic)

So did anyone even notice my AMV (Defying Gravity)? I know it was kind of overshadowed by the ginormous 10 minute one right before it, so I'm not sure if the applause was more "I liked that, yay!" or "the drama category's finally over, yay!" I'm in the middle of moving at the mom...

Re: The Otakon 2010 Thread (OK now panic)

SO what time are the winners announced and is there a specific time we will know about when our amv is played ? The winners will *hopefully* be announced sometime during Iron Editor late on Saturday night. The list announced earlier was the actual play list... trailer/parody entries are usually pre...

Re: The Otakon 2010 Thread (OK now panic)

[...] not to mention a late LATE exit at the end of Iron Editor puts the kibosh on doing the usual post-IE dinner.... You might want to let them know that over in the Otakon AMVers' dinner thread in the Anime Conventions board. I don't believe that little snag has been brought up yet. Also, I didn'...

Re: The Otakon 2010 Thread (OK now panic)

I say it's time to focus on what really matters; the videos. Who's with me? See I Love Editing, OK? Editing is having a ridiculously huge rig setup in a tiny one room apartment. Staying up till three AM to earn a trophy and plush toy that isn't worth it... but IS. And it's girls who know that a way...

Re: Premiere 6.5 within VMware

If you run VMWare 7 in Windows 7 it offers direct-to-GPU video acceleration. (Previous versions basically used the CPU to render all the video stuff including overlay.) I'm not sure how Premiere 6.5 renders video to the screen, though, so YMMV. I believe that most modern virtual machines do hardware...

Re: The Otakon 2010 Thread (OK now panic)

I think that's a fair consideration for the Overflow to give priority to people actually attending the con, which Vic would already have that information from our entry forms. In the spirit of this year's Otakon decision making, I think the overflow screening should be replaced with a half hour for...

Re: AWA 2010 - Pro deadline approaching July 23; Expo August 20

So yeah, I'm a wuss and decided I'd send my entry in to the expo instead. I'm just not sure I'm up for competing at a pro level. Even though every AMV I've entered anywhere has been a finalist and/or a winner. And I did win at Otakon last year. Meh, now I'm kind of feeling bad about entering expo no...

Re: The Otakon 2010 Thread (OK now panic)

So in the end, having experience on all sides, it seems the only way things tend to change is if the support falls for something and it's missed by fans as not being there, as they are the ones that put on the pressure. I know it does not sound fair or desirable to strip out, say the overflow at Ot...

Re: AP CS4 Problem

I ran into this issue with CS5, the issue was with the alpha channel. I fixed it by exporting as 24-bit (RGB) instead of 32-bit (RGBA) uncompressed.
