Re: Why are AMV's so rockcentric? Perplexed.

I agree with Koopiskeva that there are other genres much more underrepresented like country. I wonder if that has something to do with the overlap between country music fans and anime fans... it's not as if country music is unpopular (country singers win televised singing competitions all the time ...

Re: Why are AMV's so rockcentric? Perplexed.

For the last year and a half I've been working on the AMV Genome Project , and one of the things I'm tracking is music genre in AMVs. Of the 1,241 videos I've entered into the database, 555 of them do not use rock-based music. Now, this encompasses a huge range of musical styles such as classical, j...

Re: blackhole

I liked it, but only after the drums kicked in and the pace picked up. It did end up feeling like a pretty standard Madoka video -- dark, seething, Madoka/Homura focus, which was kind of a disappointment as it didn't end up standing out from the crowd like I'd hoped. I wish also that you hadn't cut ...

Re: Blood Shaker

This video was alright...I think it wasn't really my cup of tea -- besides being picky with rap in general, I'm also not a huge fan of pure action videos like this and it just kinda dragged for me. Even though the video was less than three minutes long it felt like every scene was just high-octane a...

Re: [AntaresHeart07] Petaloso (ST IC XII Otodayo Edition)

Super fun video, I really liked this. It felt a little generic, the scene selection wasn't always right and the lip sync was frequently off, but it had the right kind of energy and was just straight-up entertaining. Nice job :)

Re: MutiretnI

This video reminded me a lot of Mysterious Universe -- super moody and cold and vaguely tense, and the atmosphere was just so tangible. But it had the same problems, in that it just kind of meanders without too much regard for the rhythm of the music or the sync cues that could be used. I wish it wa...

Re: Pokéversary, a Pokemon 20th Anniversary tribute

I really enjoyed this. Like neko kitkat's recent Pokemon video, I think this one would have benefited from some sort of organization or logical progression to the scene selection, but I loved the way you edited this and this is miles ahead of your last few videos. It's pretty awesome to see how much...

I thought I'd go to my grave without enjoying a single TTGL video So much this, but if anyone could make a TTGL video that I liked it was probably going to be you. This one definitely took me by surprise, I just love the way you told the story and you have this knack for making me care about charac...

Re: We Live Pokemon tribute

I get the appeal but I didn't like it very much. Had too much of a scattershot approach; I wish there had been more of a progression, i.e. from older Pokemon stuff to newer, but it didn't seem like there was and so felt just kinda like you threw a bunch of random scenes together. It works as a tribu...

Re: Best Sentimental Video

Uh... maybe I (and everyone else I've shown it to) got it wrong... but this is gallows humor. All those characters die. The music is comedic irony, not sentimental. Right? Not what I got out of it, nor (it would seem) what Copycat intended based on what he wrote in the video description. Plus Senti...

Re: Feeling Blue? [Nagi-Asu MV]

I loved the mood in this video, you absolutely nailed that, however I feel like the cuts and pacing of the video are waaaaayyy off from the song. And I get that you weren't trying to do beat sync on everything or even close, but just the general rhythm of the video never seemed to match the rhythm o...

Re: [Akross Con 2015] VolleyMad

I wish you had done more with that scribbly effect you had going throughout the video. It was a really cool little thing that added to the video when you did it, but it felt like you could have really pushed that and used it more to give the video a more unique edge (although admittedly I have seen ...
