Re: Running on the Ragged Edge: The B-Side

I enjoyed it, nice job Chuck. I will say, some of the scenes were way too visually "out there" for the music...it was overly goofy sometimes and the music didn't always fit. But overall I still really liked it, and having never seen the live action Speed Racer you seemed to summarize the s...

Re: AuCl2 + e // Planetside (Megamom)

I enjoyed this, and I liked what you were going for with the text, but I wish there had been more, and I wish the text cards were more connected with the visuals that followed each one. It was a cool idea, but you could have pushed it further and made something really awesome and unique; instead it ...

Re: Should I watch the others to be unique, or-?

Allow me to offer a counterpoint to the ones that have already been made. I think you should watch as many videos as you can, both similar to what you want to do and otherwise. You never know where inspiration might come from. For myself, watching and studying other people's videos is what pushes me...

Re: Amv making

I made the mistake of using the polygonal lasso... it was an exercise in frustration Can I ask why? I'm guessing because you'd have to re-trace each and every frame. With the pen tool you can just move the anchor points around between frames (which is only slightly less tedious that re-tracing). Al...

Re: The AMV Genome Project

Clicky In a poorly-disguised attempt to keep this thread from locking, I wanted to post an update here for those few of you who showed interest in this back when I first posted it. Now might be a good time to look into this again, as I have been adding to the database consistently since I started, ...

That happened to me this morning, except I decided to hit the wall two hours after I got in to work :?

Re: What makes us human

I really appreciate it when editors express themselves through their videos. Even if I don't necessarily follow whatever emotions the editor might be trying to convey, I love it when videos are created as a means of catharsis or release. That said, I didn't like this one that much. Your editing is i...

Re: No Scrubs

The editing and storytelling on this were pretty top-notch, but that song was just...awful. And it wasn't just that the song was bad (Bastille covering a TLC song? Really?), it was also that I really didn't think it fit with your concept. It felt kinda...contrived, I guess.

Re: AMV remixing?

I don't know of any other than the one ZS posted (which is an awesome video, by the way). I do know people have used AMVs for source footage before, but that never turns out good and it's not in the spirit of what you're describing. I also know that it was a thing at one point (maybe it still is?) t...

Re: do you like Fall Out Boy?

I like them. I think Take This To Your Grave and From Under The Cork Tree are both pretty great pop-punk records, and even if I didn't have specific memories tied to those albums I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy them for what they are -- fun, hook-filled, cathartic collections of songs. I can't speak for F...

Re: How would I go about doing all of this?

Look at the cookie cutter effect trend that happened in the mid-2000s; it looks tacky and ridiculous 10 years later, yet at the time it was everywhere. This, too, will pass. *sobs quietly in a corner* <3 I pick on that effect but there are others that are just as bad or worse. Conversely, that effe...

Re: How would I go about doing all of this?

I'll answer what I know, as best I can: From around 0:28 to 0:30. I want to know how to do those transitions. Do you just combine multiple masked layers on top of one another, and add a transition or something? This is pretty simple, and can all be done in Vegas. I'll just walk through one portion. ...

Re: Positive Reinforcement

I care about others to the point you could say it's a personal fault of mine. Hmm...how about...say that in a way that doesn't put a negative spin on something good? (Not to criticize too much, I have this exact same problem). Seems kinda useless to post it otherwise, at least in the context of thi...
