Re: Hanadoki AMV and Adult AMV contest.

I have a feeling I know exactly which contest's rules served as the basis for this one's. That said, the "almost any format/codec" clause rather diminishes any chance I might have to pick on omissions or ambiguities in the technical section of the rules as I usually do, which is no fun. :P...

Re: OMNI EXPO 2015 AMV Contest

Preferred Video Resolutions: We strongly recommend submitting your video in the exact same resolution that your source material is in, which is likely one of the following: 640x480 (4:3, Square Pixel) 1280x720 (16:9, Square Pixel) Personally, all the DVDs I've ever seen have been encoded at 720x480...

Re: Illuminations: Reflections of Earth AMV

Already done, ten years ago . (At first I thought this was in the Announcements board and was ready to DOWNLOAD INSTANTLY because you don't know how much I love this piece. IllumiNations is one of my can't-miss attractions on every Walt Disney World trip because it can still give me the chills 15 ye...

Re: The MTAC 2015 AMV Contests… YES 2 this year & actual PRI

I'm guessing you meant 23.976 (preferred) or 29.97?

Mostly downloading to hard drive, along with the consistent renaming you mentioned.

Re: BIG QUESTION!

Ok, here's something I just gotta get off my chest. Nobody cares if you use downloaded footage anymore. With subgroups ripping the vid directly from a digital stream or Bluray (or even DVD) the quality really isn't that much worse than what you'd be able to achieve yourself. In most cases it's even...

Re: Amv making

I made the mistake of using the polygonal lasso... it was an exercise in frustration Can I ask why? I'm guessing because you'd have to re-trace each and every frame. With the pen tool you can just move the anchor points around between frames (which is only slightly less tedious that re-tracing). Al...

Re: Amv making

Use the Pen tool (/paths/Bezier curves) in The GIMP or Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop or what have you. I made the mistake of using the polygonal lasso instead when I did my first video that required massive amounts of masking, because I didn't know any better, and it was an exercise in frustration (it...

Re: First Ever AMV

I would have to disagree with you there, ^ I can't tell you how bad the quality always is when I use DVD's. Here's an example of what downloaded footage has the potential to look like. This shot is 1920x1080 AFTER converting from .MKV to Mp4. Only looks slightly fuzzy around edges because, it's blo...

Re: Youma X - VAT X - Schedule and Streaming

4:30pm to 5:30pm - Imitation Hell (AMV Hell Rip-offs) I feel it's my duty to object to the gist of this title, because (lest we forget) AMV Hell was not even the first massively popular video of that format , never mind the first period. Even if it has had the best marketing and post-launch of the ...
