Re: SakuraCon 2015 AMV Contest - With WINNERS

AMV contest winners announcement was KIND OF A BIG DEAL I GUESS - we filled the 800+ capacity room, and had to turn some people away. Many thanks to all who submitted, the quality of entries was amazing this year, and that's what makes the SakuraCon AMV contest a must-see event for so many people. h...

Re: SakuraCon 2015 AMV Contest - Submissions Closed

And that was us being lenient . So lenient. Merciful, even. We didn't dispatch the AMV Secret Police to anyone's house this year. Not that they're a real thing. If you see a black van with Alberta plates parked across the street, it's probably nothing to worry about. Also, contrary to popular belie...

Re: SakuraCon 2015 AMV Dinner

Vlad, I know Troy often does the work of two people, but you can't list him twice.

An amazing star-studded AMV dinner! We'll probably need to book ahead. Rock Bottom bar & grill again?

[Hatsune Miku] The Rolling Girl Who Leapt Through Time

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t214/purplepolecat/poster_zpscafe2f86.jpg 196647 I'm pretty excited for Miku Expo next month, so I thought I'd add to the hype wave by making an AMV to one of Miku's most popular songs, Rolling Girl. The lyrics share some themes with TGWLTT, such as increasingly d...

Re: Best Summer Anime 2014

Nozaki-kun was the only one I actually got excited about.

I also enjoyed Tokyo Ghoul and Space Dandy 2.

Castor Troy wrote:Koop never existed. It was just another online persona I made all along. :sorcerer:

If Koop did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

Re: Anyone else here think Ouran Highschool Host Club sucks?

didn't it come out like over 10 years ago? why bring it up now? 2008 is when it came out. Anyway, for one thing, the main group of characters all give the impression of some horrible late 90's boy band. Yes they do. :) 186919 Anyway, it's a reverse harem show. They're not for everyone. I thought it...

Re: Kill your idols

I have never been able to sit through the whole of Dead To The World, even though I like Marilyn Manson and dystopian dramas.

Re: No Game No Life

I loved the Light Yagami-level deviousness of Sora's game strategies. The loli fanservice made me cringe, but I kept watching for the games, and ended up finishing the series in 2 sittings. I'll watch season 2, but I'm reluctant to recommend it to friends because of the imouto stuff.

Re: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

My favourite too. Like Azumanga Daioh or Watamote, this is an adaptation where the 4-koma pacing of the source material works really well. Now that the character introductions are mostly over and done with, it looks like it will continue improving; ep05 was the best yet.

Re: Fascination

I've seen a lot of Madoka drama AMVs (who hasn't) but this one engaged me much more than any other. Can't really say why exactly, it's a great song and the editing is really good, but mainly it just seems to have more soul than most.

Re: AMV rant

If you can't find footage without watermarks, you can download a VirtualDub plugin for blurring them out. Obviously you'll want to do this BEFORE you start editing, so you know that the logo will always be in the same place. It's quite effective, and the blur is a lot less distracting than the logo....

Re: Anime Expo 2014 AMV Competition - Finalist List POSTED!

I have to disagree with a lot of the criticism that is being directed at Animu Stew. I admit that when I first watched it, on my own, I was underwhelmed. After seeing its effect on the AE crowd firsthand, I think I may have misjudged it. First of all, let's torpedo the notion that doing this sort of...
