I think I've got it. It wasn't DGIndex at all. I had been creating some cliips with VirtualDub and Windows Explorer had a hard time dealing with so many large files in one folder, so browsing to that folder broke whatever program might try to look inside. Lesson learned: screw VirtualDub. Just use t...

I'm thinking that some file in my video files folder is corrupted or something? Is there a program to see if a file is sound?

I hadn't been trying to reinstall anything until DGIndex suddenly stopped working. Besides deleting a couple of unused AVI clips I created in VirtualDub, I hadn't changed a single thing in my system when it decided not to work anymore. I have noticed that it tends to close when I open a certain fold...

DGMPEGDec (DGIndex) Not Working

I installed amvapp (which seems to need an update maybe) and was successfully ripping DVDs and creating AVI clips from the footage. Suddenly, while trying to browse for a new VOB file so I could create a .d2v and .avs file, DGIndex closed. No error messages. I tried uninstalling all of amvapp and re...

Problems with a video layer

I'd like to take a certain section of a piece of video (as in, a certain section of the screen) and crop out the rest so that it plays and so that the video layer underneath is visible so that it can play, too. "Clip" almost worked, but the black backing ground is covering up the video layer underne...

Editing Video Information

I haven't yet uploaded one of my videos and need to edit Step 2 to delete a couple songs that I didn't use. However, it seems that I can no longer edit a couple steps. Am I screwed? ^_^;;

I don't think it's the original clips, nor the .wav files or Premiere. I think TMPGEnc is screwing something up. No offense to the creators of TMPGEnc (especially since Premiere has plenty of its own stupid bugs), but I think their program did somethin' screwy. Someone is going to help me fiddle wit...

Okay, I got a different version of the .mp3 that I used for that section of the video, converted it to a .wav file using winamp (tell me if there's a better way to do this step), and replaced the other .wav file. Here's the weird part.... I used several songs in this video, and tried to replace one ...

I have shortened the .wav file and clipped out chunks of it. I've also used a couple of fades, but beyond that, I haven't messed wtih the .wav. I suppose I could re-rip the songs. We'll see how that turns out.

Oh, and yes, I did use CBR.

Okay... TMPGEnc seems to be having trouble compressing the .wav. The exported file from Premiere doesn't have the audio-skip (it happens only once, as far as I can tell, in the encoded version). So... what might cause it? I encoded using Joint-Stereo, but... I'll try again using just stereo. I have ...

that might be it, then. i'm still going through the second TMPGEnc encoding for the re-exported file, but if the audio-skip is gone now, i'll consider the encoding to have finally worked this time. *Whew*

I exported the video with .wav audio, and had compressed it into .mp3 using the LAMEMP3 compressor. If I used just the exported file, without having applied any filters or audio compressors, it encoded properly, oddly enough. However, there was a strange audio skip in the file that was only exported...

Okie, so now what do I try?

I'm going to assume that my problem is not fixable by anyone on amv...b/c it looks like a weird thing that's too hard to figure out. So does anyone know of another encoding program I could use to make a distributable video? I've heard some people talking about Vivo or Vio or something like that... O...

Okay, so I re-exported, ran that .avi file through WMP, and it's fine (except it plays a little slowly). 2.44 GB (according to the properties) Then I ran that file through VDub to crop out the edges, bringing it to 704 x 480. Put it through some other filters, and then saved it as .avi. 2.45 GB (acc...

Yes, twice actually. I suppose I could try it again. I left a huge pagefile after rebooting, and I've got a gig of memory, so I'm not sure how the exporting could have been affected by a lack of memory (b/c last time, that was the only problem). I'll try again, though, and we'll see how it goes.
