Re: The AMV Documentary

Oh man, I got to your email first. For some reason it didn't dawn on me I could sit in this thread. I also have email subscription set up apparently. Sorry, it's been a long time since I've been on this site! XD They are actually digital8 tapes. I ran into that problem with capturing them too. My ca...

Re: The AMV Documentary

Bah, no edit button for me anymore.

Just read more and probably won't need my crap, but it's there anyway. XD
Good luck with your project. I would like to see it when it is finished. =)

Re: The AMV Documentary

This is purely coincidental I was here so wow. I doubt you will have use for it, but I have a lot of stuff from AWA 2006 (unfortunately hi8 so 360x240). A ton of editors faces stating who they are and why should we care, many of the AMV panels (most video is shit but the audio might be good for some...

Kawaii*Kon? (April 2014)

I moved to Hawaii last year and a bunch of my friends are going to Kawaii*Kon. I noticed on their page that they do some AMV contests and showings (VAST) and I was wondering if anyone from the .org was in the showcase/contest or was going to the con?

Re: AMV Editing: A dying hobby (?)

Re: AMV Editing: A dying hobby (?)

I just want to make it clear that I don't think favoritism is the central issue here, I think it is an issue that, combined with all the other issues I mentioned, makes it harder to enjoy/use the site. It's the combination of everything that over time contributes to the lack of new members here, I b...

Re: AMV Editing: A dying hobby (?)

NS, I disagree. I think there is favoritism. Up to about 2007 it wasn't that difficult to get in the "in" crowd, regardless of how good or bad your AMVs were. But after that it seemed like the clique wasn't accepting any new members and if you didn't have some sort of real life relationshi...

Re: Premiere slow, makes it nearly impossible to edit

Can you explain why that is, about subclips?
I'm not doubting you, I'd just like to know.

Re: AMV Editing: A dying hobby (?)

I've been out of the community since really 2007 I guess. So I can only work with what I've noticed outside the site, hobby, and cons in that period of time. 2009 and prior, new editors I was talking to on other sites didn't want to join the .org because we were 'elitists'. 2009 to now, I've noticed...

Re: Premiere slow, makes it nearly impossible to edit

I'm saying one lagarith file, one video track, no cuts, it won't playback if it's not rendered. I noticed the problem with HD footage, but I work almost exclusively with SD footage now. And on top of that, even when I have HD footage, my compositions sequences are hilariously small. I'm currently wo...

Re: Premiere slow, makes it nearly impossible to edit

You may want to try "turning down" or disabling the graphics acceleration features to see if putting more load on your CPU helps. I have had graphics cards that caused issues with graphics acceleration on Adobe products. It's not ideal, but may work... Is this in Premiere? If not, how do ...

Re: Premiere slow, makes it nearly impossible to edit

Can't edit posts. You mentioned the graphics card. I don't know much about customizing laptops post-purchase. Is it possible to update my graphics card in a thinkpad? And if so, what should I get? This would be separate to the other questions, since I was thinking about upgrading anyway, but would l...

Re: Premiere slow, makes it nearly impossible to edit

cs5 allows direct import of mp4. I was using HD mp4s when I first noticed the problem. Now I'm working with xvid encoded AVIs, but they're low resolution and I'm having the same problem. The only lossless footage I've used on this setup is lagarith avi, and it won't play unrendered. Rendered works o...

Re: Premiere slow, makes it nearly impossible to edit

Do you think there would be a performance gain if I downgraded to CS4 or CS3? The only problem I envision is that I'm running the x64 Win7 and I'm not sure if the lower versions would support that. Though to be honest, I'm not even sure Premiere CS5 supports that properly. Or if it even could be an ...
